@Hearts4Me  I totally understand you.  When something starts (at least for me) which uncomfortable surroundings and feelings they begin to escalate to the point I can't do whatever is a trigger for me.

I think I mentioned I got rerar ended twice by texters some time ago

I've always driven low to the ground sports cars, hated the huge trucks trying to tailgate me as well.

Long story short --- I don't drive the 95 or turnpikes anymore.

I understand that this is quite common especially in women.

Anxiety is at an epidemic level ( as per my PCP.

When we look at the condition of our country and all the layers crunching us its very understandable.  Anxiety hurts, and it can be debilitating.

Yesterday I chatted with a friend in Minnesota. He is having healthy issues circling around anxiety. He was a guy who was tough as nails but he said that it crept up on him and has hammered his daily functioning.

I could say more but I would get shut down so I will leave it at this

Many are feeling the same way. Yet you have to be your advocate and do a self healing. Identify the days, identify your triggers. If it's too much then take a self day or just go slow.

My daughter until she had her baby recently spent a year in heavy anxiety. Tested and doctored and the conclusion was what I just mentioned. The body reacting to the elements surrounding, and to be your own caregiver. Take it slow and refresh in small doses. My daughter is doing better.

Re: Feeling Anxious?

[ Edited ]

@CherryHugs… I thought l read every comment but maybe l missed a page. What is the name of the book you are talking about? Is it about anxiety?

I am so glad a thread about these conditions was started and l think it’s a great idea to keep it going! For years people wouldn’t talk about emotional problems. They are no different than physical problems. It’s just that they have to do with your mind. It’s really disgusting and sad how still to this day a lot of people will not talk about things like we have.

Sending ((((hugs)))) to everyone here. 💖

I'm glad you understand how things begin to escalate and then those triggers begin the terrible anxiety issues.

@Othereeeen ... I never read anyone say what their fear is! You said "My fear? Getting executed in Aisle 6 while out buying a loaf of bread." My heart started racing because l live in a suburb of Buffalo near the Tops where many beautiful black people were gunned down a year ago. It was so terrifying to know something like that could happen so close to where I live...but worse yet it was racially motivated which made me sick. One of the men gunned down was buying a birthday cake for his young son. They were many stories like that. It was heartbreaking.

I was grocery shopping in a smaller grocery store a few days ago. I've thought a couple times while in there where would l run if someone came in with a gun. A young worker came out of one of the "employees only" doors and l asked him if someone did come in with a gun could l run through those doors to be safe? He said yes and l pointed to another area where there are employee doors and he said l could go through those doors. I also asked him if those doors would be locked if something like that happened. He said no they're always unlocked. That was good to know where l could run. I never shop on a Saturday or when the stores are very busy. Gunmen want to kill as many people as possible so this gunman chose a Saturday afternoon. Very sad we have to think of that while out buying groceries...

I'm sure I'm not the only person who lives here who thinks about what happened in our Buffalo Tops when they're out buying groceries. It was a long time before I could even walk into a grocery store. Bought my groceries in the drug store and went out less.

@EastCoastGal

I hear you....I live south of you... right at the PA/NY border.....so I know that incident well...and it was the precise origin of my comment. I had seen many many reports before, but the close proximity of that event to where I live was sobering and devastating.

I am afraid to be around crowds of people. I shop very early on weekdays, get in and out, and know where the exits are. I watch people in the parking lot. I try to be hyper vigilant.

I feel relief when I put the key in the ignition to return home.

The only thing we can do anymore is make sure our own affairs are in order,NOW.

That way, if the ( what used to be) unthinkable happens, at least my family won't have another mess to deal with when I'm gone.

Because EVERYWHERE it happens, the first thing people say is "I never thought it could happen here".

I will be watching the eclipse from the solitary safety of my own back field.

No crowds for me.
