There will be no charge for checking out results, filling prescriptions or setting up appointments. They will be charged a fee if talking to a physician or spending a certain number of minutes online because of a health problem. Apparently, charge would be determined how many minutes are used talking to the physician.
There is no reason to delete MyChart account; just don't use it unnecessarily.

@teganslaw, Non Face to Face Online Digital Evaluation & Management SErvice, also called an e-visit. It takes the place of an office visit for uncomplicated health issues.

These are the procedure codes used for billing when a patient "talks" to their physician on their patient portal. I don't know what the fees are, except for CPT 99423, which is $109.

@chrystaltree, what you're referring to is called an e-visit, it's done for uncomplicated health issues where the patient doesn't have to be seen in the office. There is a fee, based on how long it takes the doctor has to review the patient medical records. The amount of the fee based on how long it takes the doctor to review the records. My insurance doesn't cover this, I don't know if others do. CPT 99423 is billed at $109, this is with Northshore University Health Systems in IL. I don't know what the fee is for the other CPT codes, my cardiologist has only billed me for 99423.

No, that's not what I wad talking about. A MYCHART communication with a doctor is not a visit, it doesn't meet the criteria of a visit and and can't be billed to an insurer.

@chrystaltree, it most certainly can be billed as a doctor visit,the patient has to agree to a potential fee. Northshore has been doing it for months now. The patient communicates with the doctor via MyChart, the conversation goes back & forth on MyChart. The doctor bills for the amount of time it takes to research the patient question(s) I'm not sure if other healthcare systems are doing this yet, Northshore most definitely is.

Here types of additional Medical fees are ridiculous- Nope, not paying, I would just keep calling, visiting and be really annoying.

I don't even know if I have Mychart, but it seems to be more of a convenience to the doctor than the patient.

Frankly, since everything seems to be able to be hacked, I'd rather not have my medical info online if I can help it.

Maybe I'll change my mind at some point, but I'm okay with calling my doc's Physician Assistant when needed. She's very good and calls back promptly. Good enough, IMO.
