Re: February Exercise Thread

Hi all! Bopper- it is snowing hard right now. They are predicting4-8, I'm on the 8 line. We have had over 72 inches so far. Really tired of it ! Let me know if you like your total gym. My friend keeps telling me to get one. Nomless- I saw your post to Maizer. I was surprised to see her, it has been a long time. You wrote a nice note. Patty- thought about you yesterday. We had a 20 year old girl, newly diagnosed. it is a tough road. I'm hoping your son turned the corner. Judy- we all have something that is the"but" even tho we know we should be and are grateful for the good. Future-keep lifting, then nap!

Re: February Exercise Thread

Happy Hump Day ladies!

tony, it's a terrible disease, a lot of people don't realize how bad it is and how much one can suffer with it. We were talking to one lady that had UC and cancer and she said the cancer was the easier of the two, especially how other people treat you, she said there is a good chance of beating her cancer, not the UC, it's there for life. We went to a group for people with terminal or long-term illnesses and a couple of the people with cancer said that when you tell someone you have cancer, they are more understanding and get that you're sick, but when they are sick from the UC, people don't understand, even their own family members. The one said she is more sick from the UC than she ever was with her breast cancer. Not to minimize cancer at all, trust me, I've lost a couple of loved ones with that...nothing pleasant or easy about it. It all stinks.

Anyway, class was good yesterday, I really liked it. Some are more my style than others. We did things like 200 meter rows, hop off and do 25 jumping jacks with shoulder press(medicine ball)...60-second push followed by 60 second all-out down to recover and repeat on treadmill for 28 minutes...1 weight circuit was 10 bench press, 10 skull-crushers(triceps), 15 pull-ups alternating under/upper...last 2 minutes of class was 10 jump-squats then 20 mountain climbers and keep alternating as fast as you can...I really pushed myself on that one because I knew I was done and could collapse if need be...lol.

Judy, believe me, it's been a struggle. I pretty much shut-down when he's sick, I go back to 2009 and 2010 and am paralyzed with fear. Just trying to accept that he has a disease that is changing his life and making his future uncertain is enough to drain me.

I was going to drive up tomorrow and now I get an email saying my Vitamix is out for delivery...ugh!!! He's doing better though, his dad is taking great care of him which allows my dil to go to work with a peace of mind.

Re: February Exercise Thread

Hi, everyone. Happy Wed.

Bopper, I'm glad you're taking time to enjoy the sunshine you're getting today. It happens all too rarely where you are. I had to laugh that 30ish to you means sit on the deck and relax. Enjoy.

Patty, I hope things are better in your world and that you're having fun with Lucy. Enjoy your new VM.

Future, it sounds like you're getting back into it. Way to go!

Hi, Tony. Have you dug out from the snow yet?

Hi, Judy, good to see you.

No workout for me today. But I am eating better this week. I'm going to be glad when the Olympics are over, I think. I love to watch, but it sure takes my time away from other things....like working out and sleeping. Next week will be better...I hope. I've been saying for a while now.

Re: February Exercise Thread

Hi Everyone! Patty- I so wish the best for your son. Chronic illnesses are so tough on the family. I am rooting for your son to do well. Bopper- we had sun this morning and then got 2 more . Tomorrow should be nice, almost 40 and then warmer Friday with rain. The problem now is roofs covered in deep snow, which is a problem in itself, but then the rain will make them heavier. One home and cow barn collapsed today. Nomless- yup, shoveled out 8 inches last night. It was light snow, so was not awful. just sick of it! Judy- keep up glad thoughts of BF. Future-so glad the full moon has waned. Last week was very crazy! I am glad bopper and nomless are being a little human today- not in the exercise mood. patty- I'm not so sure how to define you!! I did do Firm today, cleaned, laundry and ironed. Stay warm,try to stay sane and smile!

Re: February Exercise Thread

Morning everyone!

Class was so good yesterday...or bad, not sure...lol. The 8:30 class was getting out and they were drenched...my gf that was leaving told my other gf and I to do the weights/rowers first because it was so hard today with a lot of hard cardio mixed in with it, she said get it out of the way because if you do the treadmill first, you won't be able to do it.

Well, we listened to her and we almost thought that way was worse...trying to run after all of those jump-squats, step-ups and squats on bench with weights, jumping over your bench back and forth as fast as you can, burpees, to 150 meter row at an all-out, back to floor, etc., then onto the treadmills, right into push-phase and an all-out...whew, my heart-rate was at 100% in no time. I did do one of my all-outs at a 10.4 though...just about shot off the back at the end but that's okay.{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

So, Lucy and I might just hit the pavement today. I'd say trails but my allergies are already acting up. We were in the 50's yesterday, I shoveled and chopped ice in my shorts again. In the 20's again this morning but will be back up a couple of days...then supposed to get more snow next week but I won't be here.

nomless, now I think of you whenever I see curling...lol. This is how spacey I am right now, I read your post and couldn't figure out what "VM" stood for...ay.{#emotions_dlg.unsure}

Thanks tony! Would you believe he's supposed to start a new job?! Crazy timing. And of course, that's stressing him out beyond belief and you understand what stress does to a UC patient.{#emotions_dlg.ohmy}

bopper, Lucy and stopped and watched the rushing water at the creek yesterday and did some reflecting...it's nice.

Waving to everyone!! Cool

Re: February Exercise Thread

Morning, well the calm of yesterday is well "yesterday" {#emotions_dlg.laugh}Blizzard and storm warnings for my area starting this afternoon and supposed to be pretty bad by morning...once again my shoveled off deck will be a white blanket...oh well...it is what is is right?

Checking in with a kind of made up workout...treadmill intervals for 5 Miles, some running some power walking, jumped off and did strength with tubing, and rebounding....pretty sweaty I must say.

Tony glad to see you, yes I was human...haha...if that's what you can call it...

Nomless it was like a beach day here yesterday! I took full advantage!

Pppmint hoping and praying DS has a good day today and you have a safe trip up to see him. Hope Lucy is a good girl for you on the drive.

FUTURE you are getting back in the swing of things...did you spin last night?

Judy waving to you..

Canine we are missing you...pop in and say Hi.

Waving to all!

Re: February Exercise Thread

Patty, Lucy's a sweetie, give her a hug. Such a happy girl. And once, again, you're a machine! It's fun to read what you're doing.

Bopper, good job today!

Tony, you and I seem to be a lot alike re: our workouts. I have several Coffey w/o's too. At first I didn't like them because there's something about her that bugs me, but I've gotten over that and now I like them. Good ol' traditional workouts, no gimmicks.

It's snowing here today, but the temp is above freezing, so it's really sort of slushing. It's a wet mess outside!

Re: February Exercise Thread

Morning, well the snow stayed to the west of me so what we ended up with is a few inches of slush. It is getting colder now though so that is getting crunchy and it is going to get very cold next week. On Thursday a high of -- 3!

Did a strength training workout today from Youtube with Rosalie Brown. She used a weighted bar which I don't have so used dumbbells. I often wondered where the girls get the bar...its a ladies bar like in the Cathe dvd's.

More Olympics tonight....love the hockey which is actually on now USA men vs. Canada....medal game...think I'll go watch it now.

Have a great day!
