My doctors office does not allowed the masks with vents

Yeah, a lot of the N95 masks are vented and allow exhaled air to leave unfiltered. They're somewhat good at protecting you, but useless for protecting others.

 

Having used masks a lot in the past for sanding stuff, I kind of question their effectiveness in protecting against tiny little viruses. No matter how well the masks seem to fit, drywall dust always manages to get through. The masks stop a lot of it, but blow your nose and out comes white colored snot. Viruses are a lot smaller than drywall particles.

 

The belief that they'll catch droplets to prevent the spread doesn't really seem to be holding true in the real world as the virus continues to spread regardless of mask mandates.

I love the face shield.  Been wearing the same one since March.  Just wipe clean with alcohol.  Steer clear of people. My hair which is long now, creates extra protection on the sides.
