Giggle.

I know we read each other's posts...thesis, indeed!
I get into a 'OMGI'msoooexcitedyou'reinterested!!' mode.
Let me try & cram 20yrs of experience in 2 paragraphs!

I'm part of a McDougall Facebook forum...close to 15,000 people.

It's so inspiring to read posts where members are rid of their

illnesses & extra weight in such a short time...especially

lowering/eliminating diabetic & blood pressure/cholesterol

medications. And Dr. McDougall is amazing...so much of

what he does is free for the taking. All those old-timer plant-based

doctors on Forks Over Knives are amazing...cool to see

their passion for this lifestyle still burns bright today.

Love me some McDougall...and the entire Esselstyn family, as well.

@phoenixbrd, who do you specifically follow?

Re: Eliminating Dairy

[ Edited ]

Carageenan causes inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. This additive is often found in coconut milk and other non-dairy and dairy products. There is a food grade and non-food grade form of it. The food  grade form is still permitted in foods  in the U.S., but has been banned in other countries and many manufacturers are removing it from their products. Try to avoid this ingredient if you can.

I found out I was lactose intolerant almost 30 years ago.  So, I cut out all dairy,,,which included butter, milk, cream cheese, any cheese, sour cream, or anything else that had dairy in it.  But, anything cooked with a little dairy, not Italian food, I was able to eat.  Today I drink only organic soy and almond milk.  I can cook with a little butter, or bake with it.  I don't use cows mile for anything!  I recently found soy yogurt, but it wasn't organic, so that's was a no no fo me!  Hope this helps! 💞

I just saw this in the news....carrageenan will no longer

be allowed to be used in organic foods.

Based on a decision announced this week, the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB)--a body that advises the U.S. Department of Agriculture--will no longer permit carrageenan to be used as an additive in organic food.

The International Food Additives Council has also described NOSB’s decision as “disappointing”, going on to say that it will “result in fewer organic options and inferior organic products as companies struggle to reformulate with alternatives that do not work as well as carrageenan.”

NOSB--which consists of organic food industry representatives--is now tasked with changing federal laws to make the additive illegal in organic foods. Because the NOSB constantly reviews ingredients used in organic foods, this particular regulation change is expected to be completed rather quickly, within the next year.
