HI @SilleeMee ... thank you for that explanation. I looked on line but just made me more confused and anxious.

Also, I searched the oncologist I'm scheduled with and he has rave reviews, so that made me feel a bit relieved. Thank you Heart

My doctors office calls every single time there is an abnormal result, even when the reading is only one point higher than the normal high.   This irritates me to the point I insisted they stop, even if it is their protocol.   They send a copy of the results with their remarks, which is all I need.

Their last call was in regard to an “elevated” count for liver function, and I had to listen to all the if’s, and could be’s.   When the copy of the results came, the number was indeed ONE point above normal!   They created all that unnecessary drama, and it was not even mentioned by my provider at the next appointment!

@Ditzydori

Yes, my CBC has shown minor abnormalities twice. (Annual check...twice now)

The first time it happened the doctor told me that even slight dehydration could cause this and not to worry!

So now I drink plenty of water.

Let us know what your doctor tells you!

Re: Elevated lymphocytes

[ Edited ]

I wouldn't worry!!! Your doctor alarmed you---I cannot stand doctors who do this! Why couldn't he have said that you had one abnormal result and that he would like this test repeated--many times the lab makes mistakes and false-positives show up.

My brother has had this happen with lab results (a false-positive--he is fine)--I had this happen six months ago with a scan--that was really scary as I already have cancer--was told it might have spread to my liver per the reading of the scan--had to go through a sonogram and an MRI--and LOTS of stress--in the end, my initial scan showed something that was never there and that was proven by the two tests I had afterwards. Four weeks of stress that almost gave me a stroke--and it turned out to be a false-positive--go figure!!

Go for the repeat lab test when your doctor told you to--I'm sure the result will be fine!!! Praying for you!!! Try to calm down.

I'm going thru the same thing right now.  My WBC was high for a while and so were my lymphocytes.  I've been the hemotologist  three times already.  I had a full set of all the blood work for cancer, etc.  All was normal but my WBC and lymphocytes remained high.  Last time I went my WBC was normal but the lymphocytes are still slightly elevated.  At the time I just did a root canal that was infected.  Hematologist seems to think that was brewing in me for a while

So...I still have to go back again the hemologist to check the lymphocytes.  I feel fine as well.  I know it's hard not to stress. I completely understand.   If you have to see the hematologist - don't worry.  Its better to know what's going on.

This happened last year when we took our son who has cerebral palsy for his annual bloodwork.  I was beyond scared and worried but the Dr. had it rechecked a month later and it was normal.  He said anything from a virus to a slight cold or even allergies can raise this count.  Try not to worry and have it rechecked.  Prayers for a normal count.

Thanks so much ladies for all your encouraging replies. I retested and all came back completely normal. So much worry for nothing, but all your replies definitely helped to ease my mind.
