Elavil has helped me for many years. Let us know how you are doing.

I took it for years for fibromyalgia symptom relief.  I decided I really didn't need it and slowly weaned myself off of it which took about 3 months.  It didn't do a thing for my sleep and I don't think it helped fibro symptoms.

@I am still oxox  Please research Elavil thoroughly before taking it. It is an older tricyclic antidepressant and can have many side effects. But more importantly, if you decide at some point you want to come off it, you will have to contend with withdrawal symptoms, which can be severe. Most doctors remain unaware of this factor, but you will find many websites devoted to the nightmares of antidepressant withdrawal, such as "Mad in America" or the "Antidepressant Withdrawal Forum". Many people suggest trying to go the "supplement" route before taking the step to antidepressants. Again, there are many websites that offer studies on the efficacy of such things as Feverfew for headaches, Lemon Balm for insomnia, and many, many more. If those don't work, then of course you can always go the antidepressant route. I hope you find and safe and speedy solution. God Bless.

Very very old drug and terrible withdrawal symptons if you want to stop it, my friend was on it for sleep for years and stopped a while ago, the stopping was just awful for her to get thru. I suggest asking your doc for a newer type drug.
