Re: Egg Intolerance causing my Insomnia? We shall find out......

In my world, clinical, if you can tolerate something, that's a good thing. If your body has developed an intolerance and therefore antigens, then one is in a pickle.

The way this person was speaking to you reaks of not even knowing what word to use. This bothers me so, because my Dad spent years of his life and $$$ on the advice of such people to absolutely no good end.

I hope for you that for some reason this could be true. However, if you have developed an intolerance for eggs, you'd have other symptoms as well - usually.

Just my take...

I never heard of such a thing - about eggs, yet. I'm not a medical person, but I am skeptical that this is the cause of insomnia. If you are eating eggs for breakfast, that is hours before slumbering.

And lucky you getting those fresh eggs! If anything, you might want to try eating them only 3 or 4 times a week.

If food tolerances/intolerances cause insomnia, then dark leafy greens and/or blueberries would certainly be a problem for me!

Your symptoms scream of hypothyroidism, but your Endo's came back OK...hummm. BTW, I still have my thinking cap on...maybe an elimination diet or a fast...then introduce items back in & see if that makes a difference? Keep us posted with your egg elimination. I think ALOT of us have this issue of sleeplessness...we have to keep the conversation going.

This is Exactly what I thought - My dr pulled ALL my Thyroid hormones (T3, T4 TSH...I know there was more, just don't have the names with me)

They all came back "Within Range" but I told my Dr they are all on the VERY lowest range there was!!! The Endo seen these blood test too and said "you are within range it can't be that" Maybe it's not in range for me???

I work full time, lead a busy life, I just don't have time to keep booking appts with other doctors, I went to 5 diff doctors this year, I normally go ONCE A YEAR for a checkup. and it's getting hard to get into some, it takes months!

Here is a little results: TSH (range is 0.4-4.7) Mine was 0.6 - Reverse T3 Range is 10-24 and mine was 10. TT3 Total Range is 58-159 and mine was 60 - T4 Range is 0.6-1.48 and mine was 1.00

Re: Egg Intolerance causing my Insomnia? We shall find out......

Interesting.

I used to eat eggs every day after a workout. For YEARS.

I had a food intolerance testing done almost 2 years ago and eggs were OFF THE CHARTS for me. Gave them up.

One of my issues was insomnia and I rarely have trouble sleeping anymore. I made some other changes in my diet, though, so I don't know if eggs were the cause or not. I did notice that the egg "bloat" left right after quitting them.

I have read that it's quite common for people to develop intolerance to eggs after they eat them for a long period of time.

Food intolerances cause different symptoms in different people.

I eat eggs almost every day & was concerned I might have developed a food sensitivity to them so I did an elimination diet.

I had no negative symptoms when I added eggs back in. In fact, I lost almost 3 pounds overnight after adding them back! I love eggs so this made me very, very happy.

I love eggs to and have NO ISSUES at all eating them, I actually feel better right after eating them!! So, I have a hard time thinking it is causing my Insomnia?

I think it's my Peri-Menopause OR Tyroid issues ...... BUT, nothing I try to take helps....

My LONG TIME Dr. just gave me Lunesta and sent me on my way. Been back 3 times this year and to an Endocrinologist!

I'm still confused as to what the difference is between tolerance and intolerance, re foods. I can't get my head round "tolerance" being a bad thing.
