Thankfully I had a great dr...super kind and sweet.
I have extensive ear/hearing damage since childhood.
I've been experiencing uncomfortable ear pressure and struggling with hearing more than usual.
Diagnosis...I have Gerd which can contribute to fluid getting into eustachian tubes. Eustachian tube dysfunction cannot drain properly.
Gerd starts in the stomach and works it way into the throat.
Also any sinus/allergy related, again fluid can't drain.
@SilleeMee...im told to stay on the Gerd meds...also dr is prescribing 2 nose sprays. He prefers over pills....to help clear all the passages whether be sinus or Gerd.
We are starting slow and carefully...will do a hearing test and see me in 3 weeks after new meds.
May need a surgical procedure for eustachian tubes...one step at a time. Dr not pushing anything unless we are both comfortable with it...mainly me.

Thanks for the update. Glad you got some more info about the Eustachian tube issue.
Hope the meds help. No one likes surgery.

@Dazlin i
I hope that your treatment goes well with a great outcome! It was nice to read a post where the medical care provider was not bashed for poor care and where there was no paranoia about untoward profit-making on the part of the provider. I am also glad that you saw a professional rather than trying some home remedy or taking the advice of a person with no medical training.

@Dazlin glad you had a good doctor visit and thanks for all the additional info.

@Dazlin. Your post caught my eye. I went to urgent care for ear fullness, popping and clicking. No problem hearing.
Doc said it was not infected. Prescribed 2 nose sprays and Sudafed. I also have Gerd and I take an acid reducer for that. Ear feels a bit better after a day of treatment. Hope it continues.
I hope you find relief soon. Be well.

One of the meds,nose sprays can cause irritability and weight gain...decreases metabolism. Not happy about that...will talk with pharmacist today for advice.
I remember taking this specific med a long time ago...and i quickly put on 3 lbs...and it knocks me out...dr told me take it at bedtime only...and maybe I dont have to stay on it. I really hate some side effects from antihistamines...
Idk if I'd rather be deaf or fat...lol.

Do you mind saying what med is the culprit for possibly irritability or weight gain?

@Dazlin FYI
I notice that the Azelastine spray has
"Benzalkonium chloride: A preservative used to prevent the growth of bacteria and other microbes."
listed as an inactive ingredient.
Google it!
Lots of people are allergic to it, known as BAK.
It is in Flonase also.
I was using Flonase for a runny nose and found out I was allergic to BAK which was causing the condition I was using Flonase for!
Just FYI. Hope it's not part of your problem!
