@Sueliz  Thank you.  I could not think of the name of it.

My pleasure @Katcat1, I have AS (Ankylosing Spondylitis) and Uveitis which affects the eyes.  My Rheumatologist just recently tested me for Sjogrens due to dry eyes, that's why I thought knew what it was.  Hope you're feeling ok, take care of yourself.   Heart

I had to laugh when I read that this is a problem with the elderly.  I have had dry eyes since I can remember.   I do believe it is a lot from anti histamine.  He has me flushing out my sinuses with saline and then using Flonase.   It helps a lot, but man I hate the saline!  I trust my Dr. so I will do it.

@BalletBabe

Oddly, a dry eye problem can sometimes cause watery eyes, because the eye produces excess tears to combat the irritation and dryness.

This is what my eyes do all day long. They are so watery in the morning I can hardly see. It takes several hours in the morning for my eyes to calm down. Even after that I'm constantly wiping the corners of my eyes since they are running. When it was worse I also had a lot of burning, redness & grittiness.

The eye doctor told me it was dry eyes. I also have dry mouth & dry nose. Stinks!!!!!!!!

@Nightowlz  I am sorry that you have that,  but I cannot compare myself to your problem,  because I never had any eye water issues.  Sounds miserable.  Do you take anti histimines?  Drink lots of water because dry mouth with rot your teeth.  I think there is something you can buy at walmart for dry mouth.  You know Phamacists are much more educated with these drugs.  I personally feel my Pharmacist is more important then my Dr. I always call her and ask her questions.  I have worked for Dr's and Pharmacists and I can tell you that the Phamacists know more about meds then these Dr.'s.  Rx's are a money making racket.  If people knew how the Dr.'s will push pills because they get a cut back on them.  The problem is they don't always prescribe what is low cost.  They are given gifts and trips etc. for these Pharm reps.

@BalletBabe

I take a sinus pill or benadryl here & there as I don't like they way they make me feel. I don't know which is worse taking those pills or just dealing with it.

All I drink is water so I do drink a lot. Since it's hot now I'm drinking 80 oz plus every day. Sometimes as much as 128 oz.

So far I have not had any issues with my teeth. I did not know I had dry mouth until the dentist told me.

I only take NP thyroid for my thyroid.

I know how doctors push pills but not on me they don't. Every time the doctor tries to prescribe something I tell him I don't need it. He thinks I need to take a statin & I told him No Thanks. My levels are fine IMO.

Unless I absolutely need it I'm not taking it. I won't even take an antibiotic unless I have to. I refused it when I was told I had walking pneumonia. Since I did not feel sick I felt it was not necessary. The doctor said it would go away on it's own it would just take longer so I said well I'm fine with that. LOL!!!

He told me I have patients come in here daily wanting antibiotics that they will not work for & you come in here .  When really needing them & refuse them???

@Nightowlz   I am glad to hear this about you.  I know people that demand an anti biotic and the Dr. will give it to them if they scream enough.  I agree with statins also.  I refuse. They are a big money making racket.   They cause diabetes now.  I have a wicked family history of diabetes, so--  NO THANKS!.  I refuse all immunizations as well. See the more stuff they have you on , the more visits you need.   I refuse to spend my life runiing for Dr.'s appointments.  I haven't taken a antibiotic for about 16 years.  I have a lot of medical in my backround, so I know too much sometimes. LOL

I thought I read about Statins not being good for diabetics. My dad had diabetes. Don't know how he got it as nobody else in the family had it. My older sister is borderline & started taking metformin. I told her she could control it if she eats right & exercises. She says she will end up like dad. She thinks it cannot be reversed.

I'm doing what I need to keep from it. I walk at least 4 miles per day. Try to watch what I eat. I also take supplements which IMO have helped me.

I don't take any immunizations as well. Last Tetanus shot I had was when I lived in Hawaii in the late 60's. LOL!!! Not taking those flu shots etc.

If I can take a supplement over a prescription drug that's what I'm doing.

I hated it last year when I had Shingles & had to take prescription meds. I told the doctor that's the most prescription meds I have ever taken besides my thyroid medication which I use the natural form NP Thyroid.

They tried to give me a shot when I had a sinus infection I said No Thanks. I picked the pills over the shot.

I probably know a lot of medical stuff from the research I have done. The doctors don't like it. LOL!!!

I like my Dr. and I am finding is that the insurance companies are pushing the Dr.'s to push this stuff on us.   That makes me angry.  Amost every medication can cause something else.  There is a Dr. on you tube.  He was a M.D. and he got out of it and because a Chiroprator because he didn't like what was going on.  I just had a third person I know die from a Colonoscopy.  THey don't tell people how dangerous they are.  Really said what is going on.  Do what you feel is right and keep walking.

Wow!  First I heard of this, I'm going to do my Google reseach and if it looks good to me, I'll discuss it with my opthalmologist.  I haven't used the rx drops for dry yet, I've been using otc Systane for several years.  I get "some" relief but not enough  I'm using it 4 times a day.

My dad was not overweight & never was. He was not diagnosed as diabetic until his 60's.

Watched a new show last night about Kool Smiles Dentist that were ripping off Medicaid by doing all kinds of work on children's teeth. They had them wrapped up so they could not move so they could clean or work on their teeth. They were doing root canals on 5 yr olds. Surely Medicare knows a 5 yr old does not need a root canal on a baby tooth.

Next weeks show is about a doctor giving chemotherapy to patients Without cancer.

I know doctors try to get you to take Statins etc. 1 pill causes a problem so they want to give you another pill. I already told my doctor I'm not doing that. If I did not have to take my thyroid meds I would not but I know what happens if I don't.

At least DH does not take anything.

He saw my doctor a few months back. My doctor said I heard you have not seen a doctor since before I was born. LOL!!!

I think he's 36 now.

My doctor wants me to have a colonoscopy. He said I could do the ship me to lab test at home. I was going to do that but if it shows something I would have to have the colonoscopy anyways. The Ins would not pay for it then because it would be diagnostic not preventive. Not happening. I'm not getting stuck with the bill.

@BalletBabe

LOL

@BalletBabe

LOL!!!

@Nightowlz No the Dr''s don't like it but this is my body not theirs.  I like you walk everyday but I only go 2 miles.  BUT  I never stop all day.  I have a lot of yard work.  I am never without something to do.  Yes they have linked statins to Diabetes.  I have to admit that everyone that has it on my side is very over weight.  I have never been over weight.   That is from my dance back round.  I am sure my Dr.'s don't like it either,  but too bad.

@BalletBabe

@Nightowlz   To me that they would not pay if something showed is pathetic.   I am sure that when Kodak went into business, that is not what they had in mind for a camera.   I used to have a chatroom for many years. We used to get on these colonoscopy stories that we would laugh till we cried.  By the way---Do you call Fed Ex or UPS for a pick up????   Do you know how full of bacteria stool is???   I did the one with the card that you smear on for 3 days many many years ago.  You know I was only in my early 20's. It showed blood and they put me through so many tests it was awful.  Turns out everything was fine.   They can keep their tests.  I signed a paper so my Dr. would not be help accountable for my decision.   THey better leave me alone.  They are messing with an Italian here.   LOL  Oh yea and if you take the card,  and don't do the test, they bill the insurance company anyway.   You pay to walk out with that card.

Can hardly wait for my next appt since I decided not to do the ship it to the lab test. I have no idea how it ships since I have not done it.

Guess my doctor will want me to sign some paper next. Never been asked that but I have been told several times to find a new doctor because I won't do what they want.

It's my body it's my choice. Get over it.

I only go to the doctor once per yr for labs so I can get a refill for my thyroid meds. If I did not need that I probably would never go just like DH.

I'm sick of all the tests they think you need or all the pills they think you should take.

@Nightowlz    Man you sound just like me.  The thing that is really irritating , is that they didn't used to be like this.  Here is a good one for you.   I have also decided that I am not doing mammogram yearly.   I waited two years this last time.  I did a lot of research on these also.  A woman is exposed to 4 x-rays a year starting at age 40.   By 65 you have had 25 x-rays times 4.   Think about that.  That is right 25 times 4 to the breast tissue that is  very susceptible to radiation.   Also they have a thyroid shield that they never use.   This is something I had never heard of.   The article said "If you have had thyroid issues, ask for one."   I like you take thyroid and like you would never go if it wasn't for that.

So I go for my mammogram which I did to shut them up.   I asked for the shield.  (looks like a dog collar.   Velcros in the back.  She said we have them , do you want it?   I said yes I want it.  They have bruised my collar bone in he machine twice.  If your collar bone is in the machine, you know you are getting radiation at your thyroid.  She said they usually get in the way.  So I put in on and after the first two x-rays I asked. "Is it in the way"?    She said No.   After I was done I told her it will most likely be 3 years till she sees me again.   She said  "  DO YOU HAVE A MICROWAVE" ?????????  I had to really bite my tongue, so I sad yes, I do but I do not use it to heat up my boob or cook it in there.   Then she said k"Do you ago out in the sun???????  I was ready to knock her out.  I said "YES, I GO IN THE SUN----I LIVE IN FLORIDA.   I see my Dr in Sept. and I cannot wait to tell him.  I do not lay out in the sun,  but seriously, I have yard work to do.  You need a certain amount of sun , that is why everyone is having Vitamin D deficiency.
