I had a total knee replacement on May 24, and those of you who have had it know it takes a long time to heal. Well, I will admit that Monday and Tuesday of this week I overdid it, so I guess I still have to pace myself. But, on top of that, damp, rainy weather when there are barometric pressure changes are a killer. And, it's beginning to get cold around here, and I've noticed the cold also really does a number on it. It was so bad today (damp and rainy) that I had to finally take a Vicodin.
One thing I've found that does help a little is I put a heating pad on it for about 10 min. on low, then rub Biofreeze on it and cover it with a knee warmer. Right now I'm using an old chenille sock which I've cut the foot off of, and that does seem to help a bit. I have ordered a pair of knee warmers from e-Bay and I'm really hoping it helps. I have a dog to walk now and in winter and I can't imagine staying inside all winter, except for walking her, because of the aching.
Those of you who had this done before I did ... have you had any of this? Do you have any tips for me? Oh yes, and going down steps are awful!
Thanks so much,
abby
