Does Anyone Diffuse Essential Oils?

I guess this is a wellness topic!

I'm rather sensitive to scents, (I dislike candles) but also am intrigued with this. So, I got a diffuser and have about 20 EOs.

So far my favorite combination is: frankincense, rose, geranium & vanilla. More for a pleasant surrounding than anything.

Have you discovered any good combinations? Any that produce an effect?

@Harpa

So far my adventure into essential oils has not included diffusing them. Couldn’t say why I have not.

Have gotten immense relief with “Deep Blue” (doTerra) lavender (Sleeping Dragon) Copaiba (dT) Peppermint (dT and SD)

I have a bit of hesitation about breathing eo into my lungs but I am a skeptic until I read more studies.

@Harpa

For many years, I have not been able to tolerate ANY scents. So I also didn't have any perfume.

Then, along came do and now I can because they are so pure and not synthetic. I'm jazzed about this!

Re: Does Anyone Diffuse Essential Oils?

I am careful about which EOs I diffuse. There are certain oils that should never be diffused, including ones labelled 'fragrance oils' as opposed to EOs. I bought a book about EOs so that I could find out how to diffuse them safely.

I like to purchase blended oils. For example, some of the ones made by NOW have blends made to invoke certain moods. This NOW Cheer Up Buttercup!  is one of my faves to diffuse:

Re: Does Anyone Diffuse Essential Oils?

I got a diffuser just because I do like a pretty scent in my house, but most candles make me sick, too. Except for Yankee Candle Morning Roast which I can no long find. Bah.

Anyway.

My favorite EO to use is Eucalyptus. I like the fresh smell & I truly think it helps to keep me healthy. I noticed less colds & flu since I started using the diffuser. And, I have 5 grandsons, 9 & under, that always have some cootie.

Lemon & peppermint are my next choices. But, mostly I use the eucalyptus.

I diffuse lavender.  It helps me sleep.

I tend to use a single scent, but this one sounds good, just ordered it 🙂. Rather than a diffuser, I usually use an oil warmer with water and a few drops of the essential oil.

@Harpa@tucsongal@Bri369@Dusty1@wagirl

I cannot tolerate eucslyptus, the kind one might find in flower arrangements.

Wonder if the so is different/better since that one seems to be very often recommended for sinus issues?

I'd love to find one that I could tolerate.

Does anyone know the answer to this: do essential oil companies that assay their products (with gas chromatography) screen for toxins? And can they keep toxins out?

I usually look for 'steam distillate'  or 'cold pressed' on the bottle. The other kind of EO is made using a solvent extraction method and this kind uses petroleum solvents. Solvent extractions are done on fragile materials like many of the floral botanicals...jasmine, tuberose, hyacinth which can not tolerate the heat from steam distillation method. @LTT1

I don't use them because I've read articles about how they can affect pets, and I have a cat and dog.
