This describes my son to a T, but his psychiatrist and his counsellor both pooh-pooh it. Are there actually people out there diagnosed with this?
I wish we could get him diagnosed properly - He's been diagnosed with ad/hd, which does make sense, and when we brought up the ODD, as he is constantly argumentative, defiant, oppositional to EVERYTHING anyone says or suggests, the psychiatrist just didnt take it seriously and diagnosed him with bi-polar syndrome, and put him on Abilify, which is making him gain serious amounts of weight.
We just don't know what to do with this kid. No matter what we tell him or ask him to do, he has to put up a fight. Simple things like get your shower or brush your teeth.
Have you experienced this? Can you offer any advice? A shoulder to cry on?
