AnneMary, so sorry to read this. I had a brain tumor several years ago, and the first surgeon I went to told me it was inoperable. Admittedly, your daughters situation is more complicated, but it turned out my tumor was not inoperable. What my neurosurgeon told me was that it was just inoperable for the first dr. He told the patient has to search in a case like mine for a surgeon who can do it. I pray this can be the case with your precious daughter.

I would look for the best neurosurgeon in this country that I could possibly get my daughter to. Prayers for your family.

First of all, I'm so sorry that your family is having to deal with this. I only know of one person that went to Mexico for treatment. It was a last resort for her and she too died. That was several years ago though.

I agree with the others, save your money and keep trying to find help here in the US.

The Gerson Institute has a clinic in Mexico. You can find info on their therapy at gerson.org

and I believe there are people in this country trained to help individuals with this treatment. I do not know of anyone who has been through this therapy myself but there are stories and films out there documenting people who have been successful in curing their cancers.

Please please have your daughter rethink this choice. I work in the alternative healthfield with cancer patients- my suggestions are MD Anderson in HOuston,Cancer Center of America, and The City of HOpe in LA. NOT MEXICO.

So sorry about your daughter. Please don't go to Mexico for cancer care. I am the Director of a Cancer Center in NY, and would recommend that you contact one of the big cancer centers like Memorial Sloan Kettering or MD Andersen to see if they have a clinical trial that your daughter might qualify for. You can also go to clinicaltrials.gov and see if any hospitals in your area have a clinical trial. Good luck.

I highly recommend City of Hope in the Los Angeles area. They take most insurance and because they are so well funded by generous donors it was CHEAPER for my best friend to receive her treatment there instead of locally. They are a cutting edge research facility and one of the best hospitals in the country.

ITA!!! Mexico? Your daughter is desperate and wants to believe this is an option. The United States has the very best MD's & treatment for cancer in the world. Mexico is a 3rd world country with people who want desperately to come to America. Best to you & your daughter.

If I were in this situation and wanted to fight it, I'd go to Gerson. Your daughter is so fortunate to have a mother who loves and cares about her. I'm so sorry you are faced with this decision. - Bird
