With my many serious health issues I have seen many Specialists in several fields. I have seen their PA and NP several times, and depending on my circumstances at that time, seeing them is adequate for me.
However, as in my recent hospitalization last week, I saw both the PA/NP along with the Doctors. The PA/NP did the primary visit to access all the exact information from me, as opposed to just reading the charts.
That was always followed by a more specific visit by each Doctor. I expected the Doctors, not their PA/NP to answer my questions about the seriousness of my condition.
For my semi-annual Hematology Examination, I ask for the NP. Since there are several doctors in this group, I never know which I will see at those visits. I have known this NP for years and her me and my conditions.
I feel better because of that reason. If I have a question she is not sure of, she consults with one of the Doctors, and gets the answer before I leave.
Doctor/PA/NP? Office visit depends on my purpose for each visit. My view of my personal experiences over many years and medical conditions pertaining to this topic.
