I thought the stories about mammograms and using patients' breath to detect cancer were interesting.

I saw Dr LaPook at an audience taping of the Dr Oz show last week, he was very informative in a laymens way. I'll watch this on line!

Yes, I watched it... I imagine that the breath detection is some how tied to how dogs can smell cancer as well.

@lolakimono We watch similar shows. I tape it every Sunday. I still have a few minutes left to watch. I found it very interesting. I especially liked watching the part about women who have had a double mastectomy and electing NOT to have implants put in.
I think it's a move in what I call a right direction. I think it's all about choice.
I have long thought this country is so mixed up when it comes to sex in the first place, especially the female body.
I might come back after I've finished watching it. I do agree it is fascinating and it does bring hope.

@Annabellethecat66 - oh, I totally agree - why would you have something removed and then put something foreign to your body in its place - makes no sense to me.

Some women want to have breast implants after surgery in order to feel like themselves again... I would guess it is tied to what makes you feel like a woman if that is what you need to be happy. . Every woman is different in this aspect. I would suppose a very young woman would want this surgery more so than say a 60 plus year old woman.

Interesting... will take a look.
Some newer research seems to be in the offing about determining which probiotics are in or out of balance and also if the person has the bacteria associated with ulcers -- H Pylori
Supposedly there is a breath test for this.

I think doctors, male doctors, have a big influence on encouraging a woman to go the reconstruction route. Sexuality starts in the brain.
If I had a double mastectomy I would still be modest. I couldn't go topless in public but every time I looked in the mirror I would celebrate that I am ALIVE.

It depends on the woman LOL. That's like saying if you're over 60, you don't care anymore. Whether we like it or not, breasts are part of our self-image - at least to me

@tarsmom I agree.
Having reconstruction/implants after double mastectomy is so personal. I am sure there are 30 year olds that would pass on it and then there are those over 60 that would have it done. I am pretty sure that I would - but I pray that I never have to face that decision. The fact that it is an option is wonderful.
