I was told to eat five Life Savers. That worked but I would still panick and chomp on more:/
I drank a bottle of Coke and ate ten glucose tablets when I went down to 46 last week. Then I shot up to 235 within the hour. I hate the rapid heart beat, sweating and disorientation. No one but another diabetic @tansy @RedTop knows how miserable it can be. 🥺

My story is a little different. I'm not diabetic. I was very overweight and I now know inflammation was a significant problem that accounted for years of what my doctors called and undiagnosed pain syndrome. My two big toes were always numb. Not painful. I can move them and my feet are fine. I had test that assesses lower limb circulation and mine was normal. I lost 60lbs in a year. The pain syndrome resolved by about 90%. I have almost eliminated sugar and processed food from my diet. The numb toes continues. No worse, no better. The doctor I saw for my yearly physical said that it's not unusual "for your age". I'm 63. He said peripheral nerve issues can happen and since mine has been stable for years and I have no circulation issues, I shouldn't be concerned. He thought that might be contributing to my balance problems. So... I'm seeing physical therapy and during the consult, they physical therapist said the same thing. It's likely the numbness in my toes is throwing my balance off. It's only been a couple of weeks but I noticed some improvement at our session today. You should definitely speak with your doctor about this. Push him on it if you feel he isn't really listening to what you are saying.

@Icegoddess wrote:Look at Gabapentin aka Neurontin. I'm not saying I recommend it or not, just that I believe it is a treatment for neuropathy.
My gynecologist uses it off-label and at a much lower dose for night sweats which I have. I'm currently taking a new non-hormonal drug as a try-out, but Medicare won't pay for it, so that's next on the list.
Good idea. I take gabapentin as a sleep aid. My friend also was prescribed it for hot flashes at night. It's something OP should talk with her doctor about.
