@kindred cats My scans at a university medical center would take about 30 minutes. That was the scan time NOT the time to enter my information etc. As I was being given the scan, the tech would look at the screen and move a hip a tiny bit, take another scan. She would make micropositional changes before being satisfied with the position.

After moving to a new city, my scan was at a breast center. I literally layed on the slab and she positioned the wedge under my knees and scanned. No re-positioning or adjusting my body in any way. The scan was no more than 10 minutes. She mentioned something about when "they trained me" blah blah. Didn't give me much confidence.

I always felt like the second proceedure was very brief.

A little off topic, but apparently if your bone supplement contains strontium that is significant information for the radiologist. No one has ever asked if I took strontium. One of the New Chapter bone supplements contains strontium. It is used widley in Europe but not indorsed in US.  Apparently strontium can falsely show denser bone that is actual.

@granddi ... I found your post very interesting.  I don't take any calcium or osteo meds currently.

My scan was similar to your second description.  A large square block to put legs on to scan the lumbar first, then that is removed and each foot is positioned and strapped to a triangular "block" so each hip can be scanned.  All laying flat of course.

It would be nice to have the 30 minute scan, but like you said, I suppose they have enough data from the brief one.

Thanks. Cat Happy
