@May5  and @Mom2Dogs  I'm also interested in what's involved with this scan. I'm having my first tomorrow, right after my mamogram. They told me it would be 15 minutes and not uncomfortable like a mamo. That's all I know.

From my test experience: test takes about 20 minutes. You just lie still no a table. You will be instructed to NOT wear anything with metal such as zippers, underwire. I just wore elastic pant, sports bra and cotton tee. One time I was asked to put on a gown top. Maybe just the place or tech?

@Mom2Dogs     I love that your scan showed improvement in your hips. That's the first place my Primary looks at once I've had the scan.  So many wheelchair patients were forced into their chairs after breaking a hip;  he has never discussed the rest of the scan report with me, but I also have never pushed him.  Time for me to add info.   Thans for sharing your experiences.

@May5 ...the scan takes 10 minutes or so.  As long as you are not wearing anything with metal..jeans with zipper, belt, etc...you do not have to get undressed.

You lay on your back, once with knees bent, feet flat on the table, as the scanner goes over your body..then, legs straight out and another scan...then you are done.  Nothing invasive..

I had the scan this morning and the results were back this afternoon!

I don't know your age but you should get a base line.  I was shocked years ago when my 1st bone scan was not so good.

That's wonderful!  Congrats!  I never heard of using the bamboo extract for that - amazing!  I will have to look into that as my scans are always pretty bad.

These are two brands of bamboo silica extract which I have recommended here in the past. The first supp is a loose powder, where it can be mixed into food/drink. The second supp comes in a capsule. Both are pure, no fillers. Purchase from Amazon.

Microingredients Bamboo Extract

Pure Original Bamboo Extract

Pure Original Ingredients Bamboo Extract, (100 Capsules) Always Pure, No Additives Or Fillers, Lab Verified

The second, capsule form, says to take one daily. I would suggest taking two daily, in the AM and PM with food.

@AngelPuppy1   Our very informative poster @SilleeMee recommended it.  I was so happy I did not have to go on any meds, (been there, did that) because that was the next step.  Even tho I did no extra weight bearing exercising, the results were good...I give credit to the bamboo in my morning coffee.

@Mom2Dogs

I don't know if I've ever mentioned this but the truth of the matter is that I didn't start taking the bamboo extract to build my bones. I started taking it with hopes that it would help with my hair loss. But then when I had my Dexa scan, sometime after taking the bamboo, it was an unexpected and unexplained (so I thought at that time) good Dexa scan result. The bamboo was the only thing I had changed which made me want to know more about its benefits. Now I won't go a day without taking it. Oh, and it does make my hair soft and silky...not sure if it makes more hair grow, however.
