Seems like a very reasonable price to me. I had mine cleaned yesterday but it was all covered by insurance
($120)

You were given a great price. I do not have dental insurance and I only get a 5% discount for paying cash. I will get another 5% discount when I reach 65 a ways down the road. Most visits for me on teeth cleaning and fluoride treatment is $165.00. This past March was time for another set of x rays since it had been a few visits back. But this time it was a special machine that rotated around my head. Eyeglasses and earrings all had to be removed. I walked out of there $256.00 poorer. I would love your bill.
At least I know when I go back in Aug. there will be no x-rays.

No, it's not. It's the going rate. I live in the Northeast, where everything is expensive. I think I pay more than that for a cleaning. Then the dentist comes in for like a five second check, and then off he goes.

That is reasonable. I know that 115 is a lot of money but compared to what is charged amongst the dentist around the area is much more than that. There are dentist in the area who are also charging and additional 15-25 dollars for PPE. Many times the "PPE expense" is not covered by the dental insurance if you have such.

$225 for all x-rays & a cleaning

my last cleaning was $ 104.00 which did not include any xrays... just the cleaning. My delta dental insurance covered the entire cost. once a year they do all the xrays and twice a year I have floride treatments... which are not covered 100% and I have to pay a bit more those visits.
My husband has a deeper cleaning when he goes for his cleaning( same dentist) it is coded differently than my cleaning is... and we end up paying about $70 dollars more after the insurance pays their portion.
I do not know if having dental insurance really is worth is as we pay $115 a month for the two of us... I guess it depends on how much work you have done... and with my teeth... it is always unsure what is going to go wrong... my Husband has better teeth than I do ... in general.

@gizmogal Would you be able to give me your dentist's name? Mine retired over a year ago (also in Bklyn) and I just went to a new dentist in Manhattan for the first time in 25 years. Not at all pleased with him (I used to be a hygienist) and have to find another one for next time. TIA!

Look up Dr. ? on ? Street in the ? section of Brooklyn. Professional, thorough general dentist. Diligent Covid protocols. Personable. Easy parking right on the block!
