Fifi1  I'm surprised that you sleep better too with the night guard.  I remember waking up during the night several times before putting the night guard in.  If the pressure feeling lasts when I take it out I'll go for an adjustment.  When she adjusted it I told her that I felt it in my 4 front top teeth. Now I only feel it in one tooth.  I wish my insurance paid for it but they didn't.  Mine was $600.  I went to biofeedback years ago and I do hold tension in my jaw even during the day.  I didn't want problems with my jaw so knew I needed the night guard.  Thanks for the info.  I'm surprised I knew no one that wore one.  Just some info, my previous dentist had a woman working there that use to work for an orthodontist.  She said if you wear braces and don't get a night guard that your teeth will move again as you age.  I believe it because my daughter didn't want one and her top teeth have moved.  She has a retainer on the bottom and they have stayed in place.

I have worn a nightguard and now invisalign retainers.  The nightguard was made for my bottom teeth only and was a thick plastic like material...really hard.  I wore that 24/7 for about 1 month...had adjustments on it....and then only at night for about 4yrs.  I remember having tooth sensitivity and muscle/jaw issues along the way in the beginning.  For me it never helped me at all with sleeping...I still would wake up 2-3times per night to pee.

Decided to fix my bite...dentist said this would help me in the long run as only 2 of my teeth actually touched when I bit down!  So I did the Invisalign and it has helped so much....I have very minor poping/clicking on one side of my jaw...no more painful trigger points on the sides of my face that hurt so bad.

I know there is a adjustment phase whenever the dentist does anything...if yours doesn't totally go away in a few weeks I would request them to adjust it for you...something may just be off a tiny bit and that's all it takes to bother teeth.

I do plan to go back in if i still have a problem.  She is so picky with dental work and I know she checked my bite really well.  She also teaches at the university.  Been going to her for about 5 years and very satisfied with her work.  In the past I had a crown put on and told a different dentist the bite was off, ended up with a root canal on that tooth and just a few years ago got an implant and crown to replace the tooth.   A bad bite can ruin the teeth.

I feel pressure for the first couple minutes when I put it in, nothing when I take it out.  I ruined my top front teeth with grinding and had to pay $2,000 for caps.
