5 years ago I was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis and so far, so good...I thought; my medication(s) seem to have it under control.
Now I find out my immune system is attacking me again: I have rheumatoid arthritis in the knuckle of my right index finger. The knuckle is swolen, stiff, and it really hurts.
They say God won't give you more than you can take. If that's true, He must have a lot of confidence in me because it's been one thing after another.
I just can't get a break!

Sorry to hear, @GoneButNotForgotten . It's a rare day when something doesn't go wrong in life (at least that's been my experience).
I hope you feel better soon and that this is just a fleeting moment.

There are treatments RA, your rheumatologist will find the one that works for you. I'm only 63. Since my early 50s it's been "one thing after another for me". Every week, I have an appointment with some doctor. Graves Disease, OA in my knees, spinal stenosis, chronic pain syndrome, vitamin D deficiency, glaucoma and keratoconus in my left eye, Afib. It's a lot but I can't let myself dwell on it. I have great doctors. I've been prescribed a ton of medications and nutritional supplements and I take them and I'm thankful for them because without them, it's terrifying to think what my life would be like. I do sometimes feel a little down because I can't live as active a life as I would like to but then I remember that people are coping with far more serious medical challenges. Life threatening things. Then I take my mid morning pills. Get dressed, put my make up on and just get on with my day.

Yikes! You are a treasure on many threads here.
I am sending you energies. Plus ordering the universe to lay off you for now.

@GoneButNotForgotten Sorry to hear about your pain. I have been there and serious pain IS hard to understand. The last few times I had bad pain, I said to God...."If you won't take it away, then give me courage to face it." I remember a nurse, busy as she was, came in late at night and held my hand. While the pain did not go away, I did feel some comfort and it gave me courage to face tomorrow.
We will "hold your hand" and I pray God will give you comfort soon and help the doctors to figure out your best treatment. It's no picnic for sure.
