You can do these but know that your information is not necessarily private. These companies can sell your DNA information - read the fine print. A great fiction book about this issue is Michael Connelly's Fair Warning (the author writes about the true issue in the author's note, he did not make up the privacy issues just the story around it. Now the DNA tests that a medical doctor has done for you is private. 

Detachment isn't the absence of love but the ability to take care of yourself in the midst of someone else's choices.

Do a research on these companies as to how they got started and who they are affilitated with. You may or may not care where your personal information goes or how it is used by people or organizations other than yourself.
