Anyone else here have that going on, too?
@SilleeMee - I'm also taking the 5 grams daily, but I'm mixing it with my water in my large Stanley styled insulated tumbler (40 oz.) and I nurse it along instead of downing the creatine all at once. No issues.
I might give that a try instead of downing it all at once. But first I need to see if the creatine is the actual cause of my elevated tinnitus. If it is then I'm not sure if I want to continue taking it at all. My body might be trying to tell me something.

@SilleeMee - well, I'm quitting it after all. I noticed my ankles were swollen when I went to bed last night. Through my reading, I was under the impression that edema "could" occur when doing a creatine loading phase, which I am not. I'm not taking any chances. I began thinking about your tinnitus. What's interesting to me is that tinnitus isn't always related to hearing loss. There could be other reasons, including fluid retention. It may be a stretch since there really isn't any muscle in the ear, but it made me wonder about your situation, if there's any correlation.

I'm thinking it's fluid retention also somewhere inside the ear. At least that's what I've been reading in some google searches. But nothing really confirmatory, just speculations. Whatever the case I don't need any more water retention. Have enough of it already from my BP med which could also have something to do with my increased tinnitus when combined with creatine. No way to know at this point. I also started getting headaches which I rarely get. I'm just quitting the creatine for good.

Yep @JeanLouiseFinch the first signs of kidney problems (CKD) is with the Creatinine. They are closely connected regarding Creatine. Are we 20 year old body builders on this sight? Be careful. They are very closely related. For what do you need this in old age? Take care of your kidneys first. We cannot live without them. So scary. I would not listen to much which is said here and never did. But this one is really strange at best.
And you are spot on. Swelling of ankles, wrists are other big pointers to kidney problems and could lead to kidney failure. One does not need it. Oh Boy.

@Pink123 - when I decide to take any kind of supplement, my usual goals are that the particular supplement is going to benefit my brain, heart, bones/joints, or skin. Nope, we aren't bodybuilders but creatine is supposed to be good for the brain so I thought I'd give it a shot. Fortunately my diet, lifestyle, and other supplements are already in place for brain bennies so I won't miss the creatine. I don't know if you know, but I'm living with a single kidney now after having the other one removed last year following a cancer diagnosis. My nephrology NP gave me the ok to take the creatine or I wouldn't have even bought it. Supposedly the initial water retention eventually levels out but I wasn't going to wait for that. The swelling made me nervous.

My 66 year old coworker takes it and swears by it but he is very athletic.
