@JeanLouiseFinch

Thanks.  I was just wondering because my SIL and BIL, who both have health problems and are late 60s and early 70s, are going to Florida to visit with daughter & her family for Thanksgiving.  It wouldn't be a surprise if they got sick. That made me wonder if your relatives had been taking chances, too.

@shoesnbags  I understand your concern.  Generally speaking, if someone is in good health to begin with, they can usually handle the COVID and recover.  It’s those who have other illnesses that don’t always win the battle, especially if they have to go on a ventilator for an extended period of time.  I honestly don’t put a lot of faith in wearing a homemade mask even though I put one on to dutifully comply when I go in a store or other building.  Maybe something is better than nothing in some people’s eyes, but what individuals are considering a face covering and how they wear them incorrectly just makes me shake my head.  I also think there can be an overuse of antibacterial hand sanitizer, that bacteria can recreate itself into a stronger, more resistant strain.  I don’t use it except for an occasional exception. And since COVID is a virus, does hand sanitizer really do anything anyway?  I’ve tried not to freak out about COVID this year, but I’m suddenly being more careful.  I’m getting ready to have some extensive surgery (2 procedures on the same day) next month - unless elective surgery is cancelled again.  A relative who is a retired OR nurse has made it very clear to me that I put my health at great risk, if I contracted COVID now.  Even if I got it now and got over it in a few days or a week, my lungs would not be 100% recovered before going under general anesthesia.  I have to take that seriously, so for that reason my husband and I will not be attending BIL’s funeral in person (it will be streamed).  We’ve decided to stay home for Thanksgiving and will also miss out on a few other important family events.  Our family Christmas won’t be celebrated until sometime in January after I’ve recovered from the operation. It all just stinks.  If it wasn’t for the upcoming surgeries, we would still participate in assorted gatherings because we are healthy. Being in the higher risk category and with health issues is reason for your family members to take it more seriously and exhibit caution. I hope your SIL & BIL do ok.

@haddon9  Thank you! She's experienced a big improvement within the past several days.

Back in April, a lady got Covid-19 and she said she had only left her house 3 weeks ago to pick up a prescription.  Thought she contacted it by the touch pad.  It was stated that her case was rare!  Normally, 2 weeks is enough.

ughhhh.. so now im kinda worried! just found out someone i work with his wife tested positive.. which makes me paranoid because now im sure the guy i work with has to get tested.. they are married... and i worked with him a few days ago, and i was thinking great.. he sneezed a few times sitting at his desk... and i was on the phone without my mask on... things like this really make you think.. we were in the same room!!  but also the crazy part about all of this covid ****** is he could be negative one test... and days later or a week later positive,,, so yes im worried and everyone else close to him at work should be.. i am only because of the sneezing he did a few days ago.. im so over all of this!  plus he may not test positive for awhile!!  mean while he worked a few days... im thinking he will have to stay outta work and self quarantine... for sure... i'd say there's a total of like 20 of us that work together....

@bonnie f Not only does he need to get tested, he should be self-quarantining right now since his wife is positive.  The second he found out he should’ve left your workplace.  Yes, you and the other 19 need to do the same.  You can file for temporary unemployment for the time you are quarantined.

i dont know exactly when he found out.. i just heard this yesterday, but he was off the last 2 days, not sure if this is why or not.. but the whole messed up thing about all this covid ****** is how long was he even with her and she didnt know she had it? may have been 2 weeks, and in the meantime, he was working, he's a part-time massage therapist, and a few other things also,  at least with the flu, you know your sick, you dont walk around with the flu, and not know. so in the meantime, anyone can infect tons of people, yes that is why we all wear masks, but are they that effective.. well i will find out more when i go back to work on monday. they will definetely let us know "if" hes positive.. its just totally different when you find out someone you work with all the time, or a family membe has it, that you are with everyday... then you think... oh my god if i have it, who have i maybe infected not knowing it...

I read that once exposed to the virus,it can take 1 to 3 weeks to show signs, the 3 weeks sound like a long time, does any one know about this?

@goldensrbest,

I have no clue. I read and listen to a lot of "experts", and how one figures out who/when and where?

Unless someone absolutely knows they have been in contact with someone that has this ******* Virus, how do they figure how many days have passed?

A person doesn't know they're exposed, much less where/when and who, yet someone throws out days or weeks? I need to have 1 of these "experts" explain it directly to me, and with words I will know what the he!! they are talking about.

Have I been exposed? How the he!! am I suppose to know? And then where/when and who!  Nobody here can explain it to my satisfaction, and I've read the latest, as far as I know.

I am going to keep doing what I have been, and are still doing. That doesn't involve me getting into a guessing game with anyone on a social media platform.

@hckynut And there is the issue that you can test negative and "get it" walking out of the building.

I just assume everyone I see or walk near has it. That's my personal solution.

I remember when hardly anyone in this forum knew anyone who had had Covid.

Now there are so many who have experienced it, been exposed to it, and/or had a family member get it, as well as some who have tragically lost people dear to them to Covid. Predictable but still shocking to me how fast this has escalated.

Hello @Sooner

I am with you on "walking out of the building". Unless a person is really sick, and if they feel that sick? They should be in their residence.

Asymptomatic people walking around not knowing do what? Heck my own PCP told me when I had my annual physical, a couple weeks ago, I would need to go somewhere else even to get tested. And his office is connected to the hospital.

I am the exact opposite of you. Everyone I am around I assume are just fine, but! Guessing you are around more people. For me it's the hospital and doctors staff. But now since the rink opened, I have been around I'd say, 15-20 different skaters, and about 3 that work at the rink.

Not sure about 1 guy that works at the rink, he's one strange dude! Talks my ear off 1 day, and next time I see him, he don't even know me. Coo Coo!

Those skating? Doubt they would be there if they were sick, but I do keep a good distance when I talk with them. Don't have to wear a mask on the ice surface.

You have a good weekend now. Lily(our canine) and I just got back from a couple mile walk. Little chilly until I got warmed up. Around here it's all long, steep hills, which is good for my skating legs.

Stay well now ya hear!
