Cortisone Injections

My Ortho. dr. gave me a cortisone shot for my shoulder pain (muscle spasms that wouldn't go away with PT and Advil) last Thurs. How long does it take for relief to set in? How long does the relief last? I'd be interested if you've had one for shoulder or other pain (knee, etc.). Thanks.
