Cornea Scraping! Anyone ever had it done??

So I'm scheduled for a "cornea scraping" tomorrow (Monday) morning due to a large scar on my cornea. It sounds pleasant (not!). Has anyone ever had it done and what can I expect??

What's weird is my Dr. and I have no idea what caused my scar. I can't recall any eye trauma. So he's going to send the material he scrapes off to pathology to see what it's made of (calcium, or something else). Weird.
