I, too, did the home colon test in December. For the first time, they detected blood and I need to go for a colonoscopy. I have a March  appointment to do the paperwork and schedule my test. Is it normal to have to wait this long to finally have a colonoscopy when blood is detected? I was hoping it could be done quickly. I guess I'll just have to be worried longer than I thought.

I am not sure about blood in a cologard test when it comes detected blood. I know some cologard tests come back with a "False-Positive"reading. Have you had a blood draw to check your Hemoglobin levels?

If you have been losing blood, those numbers will probably be lower than your last blood tests readings. My original test before all my many was taken in the ER. I went because of seeing black stools. That test, don't know it's name, the doctor does the finger up the rear test. Then it goes to the lab.

Won't go into my history of my many colonoscopies, but the test above was proof positive, as was my low Hemoglobin reading. Didn't leave the hospital for over a month.

Me personally were I you? If you are over 50, or have a family history of colon issues, I would want one, and the sooner the better. If I saw any sign of blood or black stools, I would not wait 2 months.

I don't know if this typical after a cologard test, but no way, if I met either of the above criteria, I would be waiting that long. Again, I am a "get it done"person and always have been. Keep me posted, ok?

Thank you so much for your reply hckynut. It takes me awhile to respond, because I'm not on the forums very often.

Whatever amount of blood I am losing is not apparent to the naked eye. I have used these tests every year, and this is the first time they detected any blood, I am WAY over fifty so I will go for a colonoscopy just to be sure everything is normal.

I guess I'm not overly concerned at this point, it just makes me nervous waiting to have this settled and done. The mind just goes to thoughts of cancer. I'm a complete boob, medically speaking! Haha

At a routine colonoscopy, they found polyps  in my situation...Now , I have  exams every  3 years....I vote you get it done, never know what's going on in there until you have an exam.  Better safe than sorry, I always say.

Good for you. Now you know for sure what you need to do as a follow-up. I know many fear this procedure, but after having so many, I cannot say I fully understand their fear. With the medical knowledge in this era of time? After watching 2 close friends die of colon cancer, that should emote more fear than this procedure.

Thanks for you positive posts in regards to having a Colonoscopy.

Re: Colonoscopy

In 2013 I was very tired soon after I got up which wasn't normal for me. I let this go on about a month before I had the test you take home and do it yourself. Two were positive. I had a blood transfusion also and finally a colonoscopy where they found colon cancer. I had surgery a few days later. It hadn't spread but I had FOLFOX chemo to be safe.

I had been having colonoscopies every five years since age 55. Previous to this I had one four years earlier where it was never found. It was up high and I have what is called a tortuous colon.

I dread having them but I have no choice. If I were you. I would have one . Before this, I always had a precancerous polyp or two removed.
