Sidsmom, excellent chart. Thanks.
Namealready, why are you reading here if you find it so annoying? There is nothing wrong with this thread, and it is helpful to some people. No one is considering the QVC Forums their doctor, just interacting with people who have had a similar experience. Relax!

That Go-lightly is an oxymoron.

I had my first procedure several months ago (I'm 58, so had put it off for a VERY long time, much to my doc's dismay). Everybody had me all freaked out about how bad the prep was. Honestly, while I wouldn't order this as a cocktail at a bar, it wasn't that bad, and there are ways to improve the taste (make sure it's cold and add some lemonade Crystal Light powder, for instance). I just chugged a glass at set intervals, didn't sip on it.
I elected to get as little drugs as possible, so was wide awake and chatting with the technician and watching it all unfold on the screen. Afterwards, my friend and I went out for dinner. As soon as it was over, it was like it had never happened.
One day, they might figure out a way to make the prep less onerous, but for now, it is what it is.
No biggie, and so important.

Believe me, I'm well aware of the Prep work the day before, yet because of them finding & removing poly's each time it has taught me to accept the procedure!
To my pleasant surprise I get to take PILLS with water or Ginger Ale (or any clear liquid) the day before this time! It tells me to take 4 pills every 15 minutes for a hour (5X) at Noon (for example) then 4 tablets every 15 minutes for a half hour (3 x) at 7 PM. That's it! I'd much rather take pills than drink that stuff so hope it works!
As for eating my doctor's never said anything about what I could and couldn't eat 48 hours before surgery - just not to eat anything after I start my prep. I do however watch what I eat 2 days before and try to go as light as possible. It makes it a lot easier when I'm spending so much time on the commode!!!
My BIL is a GI doctor, he told me the majority of colon cancers are not genetically related. I think that's why many think they don't 'need' to have this test. OMG- everyone should!! My first colonoscopy the drs found a large mass they thought was cancer, fortunately after my resection the biopsy was clear. And I have ZERO family history.
But for every person who says this, there are those like my family who proves that there is a connection....On the paternal side of my family, we have had multiple family members with colon cancer...It's an important test. Just do it - whether you have a family history or not. Truly, it is NO big deal! I had my first one at 40 and will do them every 5 years. It IS a nice little cleanse, too...so double benefit. ![]()

Good Luck....
If you think the prep is bad, don't ever get colon cancer, it'll really ruin your day.
I guess some people want to walk around with a colostomy bag hanging from their body.

I haven't had one yet , but I'm guessing that the protien shakes can keep you alive quite well inthe fasting stage. ... Atkins, EAS Protien or Premier Protien shakes are great. ![]()

I think you are supposed to go home after the procedure and have someone with you in case you have any problems. Probably too much food at once after "fasting" and the drug you are given. I always come right home and eat, but not a lot at first.
