The Eucerin calming products are good, as is Tricalm and Dermarest. None of them eradicates the problem, but they all help. I have very dry skin, especially in winter, so often need something to help.

I have diabetes which can dry your skin out. I have major itching at time and put on Gold Bond lotion. It helps some. I hope you can get some relief.

it sounds like its just drying out your skin using the heating pad all the time. Try some Aveeno bath gel and Aveeno lotion.

Ford...ra can cause itching...as can liver issues. But since it is not systemic, it may be the heating pad. Prednisone also creates fragile skin and the heat may be irritating it. I know how much heat helps pain so I feel for you. I found a cream that helps my joints a bit..it is called emu cream and you can find it at Walgreens. It is a bit pricey but you do not need to use much. ((((Hugs))))

I do also use Aveeno and love it. I have started taking my showers with Dove. Yesterday was not bad, but today it's actually making me nauseous.

Good thing I have a doctor appt. coming up next week. I'm asking her for labs, including those that may indicate issues with my internal organs, the thing I'm most concerned about.

I have not been using the heating pad and turned the A/C up, so my apartment is very cool. I won't like the bill, but I am trying everything.

I've done a lot of research . . . it could be anything, including the RA as well, as sydsgma (my fellow sufferer) said.

This is so embarrasssing, but I have had a horrible rash for months under my abdomen. I have tried many things, but they are not taking away the rash. It is pink and purple. I have put Rx powder and ointments and creams as well. I will have to go back to my Dermatologist. It covers a large area and is so miserable.

You mentioned a horrible rash on your abdomen, I know this may sound weird but try not using your medicated ointments or powders and get your self some VIVA paper towels and it has to be VIVA and I hope it works as it did for me in 2 days. Let Me Know,

I had another thought. I had a slight itching problem about a year ago... no rash.. nothing visible. Turned out my thyroid was low. Not sure this is your problem but it is an easy test to be included when you go to the doctor.

I too had itching problems, constantly feeling cold, increased tiredness, and additional stiffness or aching and I too found out that my thyroid was below normal range.l

Try Monistat, you may have a yeast problem,
Ford, this is something I have used...it works for yeast. I get it on my lower abdomen and it can be so painful when it breaks the skin open! Monistat is safe and works well topically.I am currently getting a rash on my chest and neck which I have discovered is yeast related. And it itches! With taking steroids it is a real problem for some of us!

Try Viva towels under your abdo folds with no cream or powder, yes VIVA towels it will wick away the moisture, kill odor, heal.

liver disease causes itching as a symptom; so does CA, I believe... not to scare you, but since it may be an indication of something else, thought I'd mention these.

Yes please get it checked out. I too do not want to scare you but one of my moms best friend had chronic itching. It would not go away. And it may have had something to do with her kidneys or liver. I will ask my mom if she remembers what it was. Just keep in mind it may not be just dry skin or something like that. Seriously check in to it.

A few months ago my husband started with an uncontrollable itching. So bad that he had welts on his skin. The dermatologist sent him for a battery of tests, but no problems showed. He was given Triamcinolone cream which didn't really help, and an antihistamine. Then, after about a month the itching just stopped. No idea what cause was.
