I remember my ex-husband's first noticeable symptom before he was diagnosed with type I diabetes was terrible itching. I doubt that is the case with you, but I do remember that.

Have you used the heating pad 'moist' yet? Regular heat can be extra drying.

Body wash and body lotion with oatmeal really helps the dryness and itching. These are both fantastic, and always well-reviewed:

*St. Ives Body Wash with Oatmeal & Shea Butter

*St. Ives Naturally Soothing Oatmeal & Shea Butter Body Lotion

HTH Kiss

I agree. The heating pad is drying especially when one uses it often. I'm a hot water bottle user, myself.

This is so embarrasssing, but I have had a horrible rash for months under my abdomen. I have tried many things, but they are not taking away the rash. It is pink and purple. I have put Rx powder and ointments and creams as well. I will have to go back to my Dermatologist. It covers a large area and is so miserable.

liver disease causes itching as a symptom; so does CA, I believe... not to scare you, but since it may be an indication of something else, thought I'd mention these.

Try Monistat, you may have a yeast problem,

I have cared for many older women with dry itchy skin. What helped the most, was making sure they had a hypoallergenic detergent to wash their clothes! NO fragrance, or chemicals. No fabric softeners either. It worked most of the time! HTH!

Check the side effects of medications and supplements you are taking, if any. DD had severe itching, but when one of her medications (Humira) was removed the itching subsided along with her psoriasis.

Ford, this is something I have used...it works for yeast. I get it on my lower abdomen and it can be so painful when it breaks the skin open! Monistat is safe and works well topically.I am currently getting a rash on my chest and neck which I have discovered is yeast related. And it itches! With taking steroids it is a real problem for some of us!

It's in open areas of my trunk, my waistline, lower back and hip area, not in the more "hidden" places. I did not use the heating pad last night and put Gold Bond on it around 5 AM. It's still there, but not as much, and I am refusing to scratch.

I will try the Monistat, is that OTC?
