Re: Cataract surgery anyone?

I would like to share a story about getting second opinions. When I first moved to Kentucky, I went to an ophthalmologist to get my eyes examined. I knew that I had the beginning of cataracts but it was not urgent for surgery..He recommended that I get cataract surgery immediately. I just felt like he was a used car salesmen trying to get me to buy something I didn't need. I had another appointment scheduled but cancelled. I had been going to a specialist in Colorado for over 7 years.

I recently went to another eye doctor who told me I don't need the surgery. My vision with glasses is 20/20. She told me this particular doctor likes to push his agenda earlier than necessary. She said I do have cataracts but they are 1 out of 4. She will tell me when I need surgery. I was relieved when I left the office knowing I am glad I followed my intuition.

My point is to listen to your gut feelings they are your guide.

Re: Cataract surgery anyone?

@elated  Your story sounds like mine....my optometrist told me in July I had cataracts and needed surgery and even gave me a referral (my insurance didnt take). He wouldn't even upgrade my glasses. Said it wouldnt help. I went to a specialist and he said I didn't need surgery yet. Said when it starts affecting my way of life then I will need...It's far from that. I was also relieved I didn't need yet...He also gave me a new prescription for glasses...

BTW... not sure I really need glasses.. I hardly wear. My insurance paid so why not get.

The Compounded drops cost me 40 each time and well worth every penny, dont ever hesitate to get them.  Especially if you are having them done a few weeks apart. Mine were special ordered from a pharmacy in Montana.
