When someone has survived as many serious health issues as John, there is a strong desire to help others understand the testing and procedures from someone who has truly been there and knows what they're talking about. I can totally relate to where he's coming from, as I feel compelled to help others understand specifics about knee replacement that is not usually discussed prior to the procedure, and that the patient doesn't usually know to ask. I had an awesome experience with my knee replacement, which is not at all how most people refer to their surgery experience. I try to encourage people to make their surgery experience a positive one by understanding what they need to do to make that happen. Like John, I know my body very well, but surprisingly, many people do not. Just this week, my best friend told me she'd had indigestion for 2 days. Knowing this friend has just been diagnosed with a cardiac condition, I advised her to go to the ER ASAP, and stressed to her that she did not have indigestion. She listened, and subsequently, she was experiencing a serious issue with her heart, which is now being treated. Turns out my friend did not know the signs and symptoms of a heart attack, particularly in women. Because she did not feel any chest pain, she dismissed the idea that anything was going on with her heart.

Even when someone is relaying information that doesn't pertain to us at that particular time, doesn't mean we can't listen and appreciate what is being shared.

thank you everyone for kind words and good thoughts and prayers.. trying to stay positive. I go in the 19th for a cauterization, they said the back left part of my heart is not getting enough blood.. I of course was a bumbling idiot in the office.. I have no symptoms. told me to stay off of google and read the pamphlets they gave me.. if there is more blockage when they are in there possibly will have bypass.. I took off work today.. just wrapping my head around it all.. I know it could be way worst..

Sorry I just saw this a week after it was posted, go for a second opinion, there might be other options

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start being positive what could go right.

I am a great believer in the power of prayers, especially group prayers.

God Bless and be with you, and hold you in the palm of his healing hands.

You will be just fine pbb..........try not to worry, and trust that a higher power will watch over you.

If you can please do update when you have the completed results, and I will continue to include you in my daily healing prayers.

Hello pbb,

Did you mean "cauterization" or "catheterization"? I don't know anything about a cauterization. I've had many heart catheterizations and it is not uncommon to go directly to surgery if it is needed. I signed a form before going for a heart cath even though I was having a heart attack with 2 of these procedures. This was giving consent to do surgery, if necessary, along with saying I was aware of the risks involved with this procedure. I was fortunate enough that with both of my heart attacks the 100% blockage of the Right Coronary Artery was in a place where a stent could be used in lieu of the surgery.

Getting information from the right places is the key to having knowledge prior to any serious invasive procedure. For some however reading even the right information makes is worse for them. People like myself relish the idea of knowing exactly what is going to happen in any procedure. As I have said he many times, I am one that likes to watch any procedure given that choice.

There are very few people that do not go through the same feeling you mention when told something is not quite right with their heart and/or cardiovascular system. That is normal to feel that way. Some of the information I try to pass on to others on this, and other forums, the word "I" is used a lot. For me there is no other way to pass on some of this without telling the experiences I've had with issues concerning the heart and some of its functioning parts.

As you said in one of your other posts, be proactive is much better than being reactive. I spent lots of rehab time with people that found out about their heart issues before they had a heart event and saving even a tiny bit of heart muscle can be very important. By being proactive these people have 100% of their heart muscle still in tact. Even a slight heart attack that is taken care of quickly some of the heart muscle is lost, and that can never be a good thing.

Do whatever works for you to try to keep your mind off of this procedure.

My best to you and do keep us all informed as there are many here that do care.
