@Icegoddess wrote:Yes, I have that problem. I didn't think they made calcium citrate in gummies. That's usually another calcium. Citrate is the one that is best absorbed. I also take a large amount of vitamin D, so I don't want the added vitamin D that most calcium supplements have.
So, I just get a calcium citrate powder that I mix in my yogurt. I'm not taking a full dose, which is 2 tsp, but the body can only absorb so much at one time and the yogurt itself is going to have calcium. I had good, dense bones at my last bone scan which was this year, so I'm not overly concerned about it.
I just ran out of the powder, so I need to order some more.
@Icegoddess Thank you. I didn't know they made it in a powder. I'll have to check that out once the gummies are gone. So far, so good with the gummies. They're sugar free and they actually tast pretty good. Pineapple. The company is Greabby and i got them on Amazon.

@Kachina624 wrote:@Linda0215. I took them for years until my doctor took me off of calcium. Never gave the size of the pills a second thought, just rotely swallowed them everyday. You must have an unusually small throat.
@Kachina624 I also have some thyroid nodules, so maybe that's part of the problem? I don't know.

@Shelbelle No they aren't coated. They're by Citracal. Surprised they aren't coated.

I have been taking Citracal slow release pills for several years. Recently I discovered I can now easily break one in half with my two thumbs and forefingers.
To make sure they each go down easily, I take a large drink of water and tilt my head back. This is now so much more easy to swallow than the choke and gag routine !
My PCP suggested the calcium be taken overnight and the slow release version so that the body absorbs more of it rather than flush it out of the system.
@jlkz Okay, that's something to try rather than pitch two bottles. Maybe I'll crush them and mix with yogurt or applesauce.

@FranandZoe wrote:I take Nature's Way Calcium Citrate. - I buy it on Amazon - very easy to swallow capsules.
I hate those larger horse pills - I do take a few.
@FranandZoe Thank you. I'm going to check those out. I find the capsules easier to deal with than the uncoated tablets.

I don't think I've found any Calcium Citrate tablets that are coated. If I did, they probably were combined with Vitamin D which I don't want.

@Linda0215 Crush them and take with applesauce or yogurt, this will work, I have had to do that when I have a sore throat and it works well.

I take one huge tablet each day, Calcium carbonate, Magnesium, Vitamin K1 and vitamin D, the perfect combo for people taking calcium. Also take a seperate K2 definitely need the K2 when taking calcium. It keeps the calcium away from the heart.
