My DD had her bunions removed in her early 20's. She is now 58 and they have not returned. She is careful in her choice of shoes and gone is the day of spiked heels lol.

I have a bunion on my right foot. Have never worn pointy toe shoes or flip flops as a child or adult. My parents insisted that we wore properly fitting shoes.
My podiatrist told me that bunions are hereditary and my mom had bunions.
He also told me that unless I'm in excruciating, constant pain, don't have the surgery, and never have the surgery for cosmetic reasons. He said the bunions can come back.
