@puttypiesmomBoniva was my choice for six years. It has been a wonderful medication with zero side-effects. I'm currently taking a "rest" from it (my choice) and may or may not resume it when I have another bone density test in 2019. Haven't had any broken bones since being on Boniva, which is amazing for me!

Can you tell us more about this please? I don't want to take the meds and looking for an alternatve.
Has it been proven to work per your follow up scans and where to you get it?

Please read my post up thread. If you look at the product description on Amazon, it gives a brief description of what bamboo extract (silica) powder does. HTH![]()

Here's an article from the NIH website about silicon (silica) and bone health:

Thank you for the Bamboo Powder information!
I went to Amazon and ordered the powder with no S/H via Prime.
My Doctor put me on FOSOMAX and I had a horrible headache for 2weeks. I rarely have headaches. ?? I am sensitive to medication in general. Threw the Fosomax into the trash.
Bone tests indicate early osteo.
I read that calcium and Vite D do not really make much difference according to studies. I am still taking the Rx once a week Vite D since I avoid the SUN to avoid Skin Cancer and extra wrinkles. Low Vite D levels are all too common these days.
The bamboo powder may help my hair, skin, nails, joints and bones.
I am willing to give it a try. <G>

Vit D & calcium are good for more than just strong bones.
Don't drop your supplements.
If your prescription is expensive, OTC "generic" supplements give me the same results as prescription or brand name supplements.
I have a diagnosis, unrelated to bones, that require me to keep up my Vit D & calcium.

Magnesium builds strong bones. You might be low, a blood test will tell you. You can buy it over the counter
