Re: Body dysmorphic disorder

I have also lost some weight and sometimes it's hard to really see how we look.

My son just sent me a video of the family that he had from 2015.  Wow!! I was a lot heavier then!  I think it helps if we look at old and new pictures side by side.

Re: Body dysmorphic disorder

Yes, it makes sense. I lost 85 pounds and went from a 2 x to a L. I was with family last week and a picture was posted on facebook and I hated the way that I looked.

Re: Body dysmorphic disorder

After losing weight I was holding on to my older clothes, expecting the weight to come back on. My daughter convinced me to donate the clothes after a couple of years. I had to accept this new version of myself.

Re: Body dysmorphic disorder

I never heard of BDD until I just looked it up. Why does eveything have to be labeled? So is this something else we should be worried about? Nope, not me. I lost 70 lbs 5 years ago by doing it the old fashioned way...diet and exercise. I never put it back on because I continue to diet and exercise, I'll do this for life. Do I see myself as still fat? No, I see photos of me now and I am slim and am very pleased with what I see. Woman Happy

@ID2 Good for you our bodies and minds are not all built the same. I am thrilled about the weight loss and I did it the old fashioned way before injections. Weight Watchers meetings every Wed morning. Until Covid came and the center closed.

Between Valentines Day and my Birthday in the same week I gained 5 lbs. Back to seriously watching what goes into my mouth

Re: Body dysmorphic disorder

Very common with people who lost a large amount of weight.  Some of us eventually get over it, some don't.  I have not gotten over it.  I "see" myself as much heavier.  I don't shop in brick and mortar stores because I Always bring size 20, sometimes 22 into the dressing room.   I'm a 12 on top, 14 on the bottom.  I can't see it.  When I bought a swim suit last summer, I refused to accept the sizing chart.  I thought it had to be wrong.  So I bought one...returned it.  Bought another....returned it.    Third time was the charm.   Even shopping with QVC, I'll sometimes buy an XL and then have to return it.   My mind sees me at a size 20 and I can't do anything about that.

@chrystaltree I know how you feel I do a lot of on line shopping, we used to have a Lord and Taylor around the corner that closed during the pandemic. I do  a lot of on line shopping, for tops I have learned to watch measurements. I recently ordered several Large tops from Macy's, I think they are a big big but I do not like things tight.
