@dex  If it's life threatening you should be going to the ER or calling for an EMT.

The OP lives in south Sarasota county - not exactly out in the middle of a sparsely populated area as she likes to infer by saying she's in a "small beach town". There are plenty of fine healthcare providers in the area. It's the cheap insurance she choose that's the problem.

I doubt that "cheap insuranace" is the only problem.

But you might end up with a "cheap" doctor in the ER.

Then what?

@151949 wrote  "They tell me they are in temporary offices and give me an address. Off I go - when I get to the address it is a shopping mall but one of the doors says ---Physical Therapy. I figure I'll ask them if they know where the doctor's office is. I go in and there is no receptionist so I ask one of the people walking around in scrubs and he said this is it. They give me the usual clipboard and I fill it out. They ask for my copay and ins. info. then take me back to see the doctor - IN A STORAGE CLOSET. No lie - shelves all along the walls filled with PT equipment and in between them a raggedy old wooden desk and a chair. The doctor comes in , looks at my knees and bends my legs etc. Explains that I damaged the cartiledge under the knee caps & now it is rough like stucco instead of smooth and it will take a long time to heal, and this rough cartiledge is rubbing on my prosthesis from my makoplasty, and that is causing my pain. He recommends pain meds and PT"

She knew they were in temporary office space

They were continuing to serve their patients!  His explanation sounds good to me.   Being in a temporary space does not lower his expertise!  He probably sees this problem very often.

Exactly.  Temporary office space.

Often there is nothing to do for an injury but time and rest.  I wonder if the OP would have had such a reaction to the same diagnosis given by a doctor in a lovely new office space with cushy sofas and marble floors?

How often do some (many?)  doctors order unncessary and costly tests just to cash in?

@QueenDanceALot  Or worse you end up going round and round looking for the ER because the hospital has no sign.  LOL

You know how those hospitals are in Florida.  Smiley Tongue

Re: Bizarre doctors appt. today

They told you it was a temporary office so things won't be like when they are in their permanent office. Why buy an expensive sign if it is only temporary. The setting has nothing to do with care. If his care did not live up to your expectations see someone else.

Re: Bizarre doctors appt. today

How could this Dr see what's going on without an MRI or X-ray?

Doesn't make sense!  You got a lot of good advice here...run for the hills and find another Dr.

I've had some of what you described and last May had double knee replacement (it wasn't difficult at all).

Come back and tell us AFTER you see another Dr.
