@Icegoddess for just regular cold medicine (without pseudophedrine), they just verify date of birth by looking at my license.  For the "good" Sudafed (with pseudophedrine), they actually swipe my license.

@DrKelli where I live, the regular stuff is out on the racks just like the groceries.  No checking whatsoever.  I'd hate to have to buy that from the Pharmacy.  I need to stand there and stare at all the choices until I find the one I want.  They don't check birth date when checking out either.

They ask for bday if you buy many cold meds now. Some of the stuff with a lot of ephedrine in it is used to make some illegal drugs, so now you have to buy it from behind the counter. You can find anyone's birthday online with a couple of clicks, so don't worry about WM having it. Our lives are open books now due to the internet. I highly value my privacy, but when I had a group of co-workers do a huge FB post saying happy 65th birthday to me, any dream of privacy was gone. 😬

Pseudoephedrine (Sudafed) can only be bought behind the pharmacy counter and has been that way for years because some people were buying large quantities and turning it into a form of speed. Crazy! You used to be able to get it yourself on the shelves.

@Thats Me Correct.  Sudafed was named after pseudoephedrine and now it doesn't even have it in it.

In Canada you can get codeine cough syrup without the prescription like you do here.  You have to get it from behind the pharmacy counter, but no prescription required.

It's sort of nice to get "carded" again after all these years. They ask to see my DL when I buy spray paint or decongestants. The decongestant is used to make ecstasy and some other drugs. If you have shopped at WM and paid with a card, they already have all your info. Our lives are an open book now due to technology. Everyplace has a "system".

In  my opinion the lobbyists want you to smoke pot, alias CBD. And they are getting there.

They are slowly getting rid of a simple benadryl which we have had for so many years.  Look at the other medications lobbyists have gotten rid of and/or make it hard for you to get.  

Billionaires for sure in the making.  Very sad.

When they changed the opiate laws, did anything get better? No it got worse. Now it's fentanyl.  Always something, heh?
