Re: Backpack Brand Recommendations

I placed my first LL Bean order! I wanted the backpack that I featured above in sage, but settled on the blue since the sage was out until January. I never thought I would say that I am looking forward to receiving a backpack, go figure {#emotions_dlg.huh}

Re: Backpack Brand Recommendations

The great thing about Jansport is that they repair anything that goes wrong with one of their bags and they mean it. I had purchased an expensive one from one of the specialty stores that said it had a life time guarantee. i even saved the receipt. After several years of use the zipper broke. I sent it all in and they sent it back saying lifetime was less than that. They meant what they determined to be the ""lifetime"" and that was three years. Jansport fixed one without the receipt and it did not matter how old it was.

I've had one JanSport since the mid 90's. I packed it to work daily, used it for outdoor festivals, sports events, and as carry on when flying or cruising. Now I use it when I go to the gym. Make sure you pick a color you like because you cannot wear them out. Lifetime guarantee too.

Re: Backpack Brand Recommendations

Have you considered a weighted vest?

The weight is distributed evenly....having anything, say, over 5 lbs...all that weight will fall to the bottom of the pack & straps might pull causing you to bend slightly forward, compromising your walking form for any length of time.

Even the Q sells one....

Re: Backpack Brand Recommendations

Yes, I use one for travel. By far the best one I've EVER used is an Ogio. It has design features that make it very useful--the pockets are numerous and it holds laptops, tablets, clothes, photo equipment, and it's streamlined. There is a lower pocket that works like a wallet (the rounded zipper you see at the bottom.) And the pads feel great on the straps. I went all over some very rough terrain in South America with this backpack and it made hiking and walking a pleasure while carrying equipment. It's not all that big, either. I actually ditched my old backpacks at Goodwill after getting this one. I've never found better.
