SOOO, I jumped on the BEET wagon and actual was enjoying it in my daily water.

However, after about 20 days I was getting syptoms of higher estrogen, lets just say the tata's get sore and I know when my estrogen is up. I am vegan and have NOT had any spike in estrogen for years now.  Just had blood work last month, Estrogen was normal/low. Well, I was noticing soreness so I asked my Dr if we could retest, sure enough it was up.  I told her the only change I made was drinking 2 servings of beet poweder a day, well she told me Beets can have impact on your hormones, for some that is fine but for people sensitive maybe not.

So, i got home and did some internet serches like we all do     LOL  and came up with MANY sites that state the same thing.

Here is one blurb...

Taking away nothing from the beets being one of the most delicious, sweetest and nutritious vegetables out there.

It should be noted that like many root vegetables, beets also contain compounds that help in the maintenance of healthy estrogen levels in the human body.

Hence, beets should be avoided by anyone vulnerable to hormonal imbalances as its regular intake can lead to high estrogen levels, and gynecomastia.

SO - Just listen to your body, I am NOT saying this will happen to you, it's just MY experience, I plan to take 1/2 scoop a day and see how that goes....

Curious why you would use beet power rather than eat the real thing (beets)? Seems the more natural a food is, the healthier it would be.

How about just eating a beet or 2 instead of having the processed variety which is highly concentrated?

Honestly, just thought the powder would provide more Beet nutrients daily since I don't always get a chance to eat beets.

Added it to my 40oz jug, made me drink more water too.

I took for circulation and energy, did notice a diff. in circulation but not energy BUT the circulation is not worth the increased estrogen.

FYI, I am just below my ideal weight, and workout with weights 4 days a week and cross train so my circulation has nothing to do with weight or lack of exercise, just as an FYI

I buy sliced pickled beets in a jar, they are delish, and we put them in our salad with dinner every night, no issues.

@SandGirl

Interesting.

I did a little poking around....many foods have phytoestrogens,

even celery & oranges, for example..as well as beets. But any

cautionary advice didn’t include beets.

First thing I thought when I read your post...supplements.

We’re kinda playing with fire when nutrients are processed/isolated,

like protein powders, soy meat-substitute products....and your beet

powders.  I would think eating a whole beet, with fiber/vit/minerals

would be far better than the isolated powders.  Maybe the way it

was isolated is flooding your system to have negative results.

I know the powder is your gateway to more H2O, but try eating

whole beets for a bit to see if you get the same response.

@sidsmomI am SO happy for the Vegan support here, I contribute my health to it and people always ask me how I stay so healthy, most don't want to hear vegan and SO many of my friends are doing KETO, everywhere I turn it's Keto this, Keto that, they will pay for it down the road.... It's NOT a long term diet and people are just happy to hear they can eat all the fat, bacon, meats, butter and all that jazz, just yuck.

THANK YOU!!  POOR HAWAII!! Thankfully the Hawaiians and the people that live on the islands are usually a tight knit family, they pull together to help one another, just so sad, it seems like every time I turn on the TV I hear of another fire that broke out, just crazyness.

Hope you are having a blessed day  Smiley Happy

I buy sweet pickles and when they're gone, I put a drained can of sliced beets into the pickle juice.  Very good.
