The Q is selling this. What’s the deal with B12 toothpaste? Why
01-16-2020 11:13 AM
It is considered a dietary supplement of B12. Apparently it gives a pretty good dose with 2 brushings a day. Maybe not this particular brand but another I've read about.

The vitamin is listed as the second to last one in the deck. Makes me wonder just how much of that is in the toothpaste...?? No percentages or mg stated. Looks like a gimmick to me.

I don't know about the science or the efficacy, but as someone who frequently forgets to take supplements (I don't even bother anymore), but remembers to brush her teeth, this would be awesome if it's as efficacious as other forms.
Why not get your vitamins in while you're doing something you'd be doing twice a day anyway?

As usual QVC does not provide detailed info about this product but the company website does and they say it's 100ug of Vit B12 per gram of toothpaste and that with two brushings per day it's 3.6mcg intake of B12. They also cite clinical data showing a median increase of 50% serum levels of Vit B12. Interesting, I had no idea this was a means of supplementing.

First I've heard of it.
How does it work? Maybe absorbs into the body through the tongue or gums?

I think I'd rather just take my sublingual supplement and be done with it.
A little over half of the amount of VB12 in a sublingual pill is absorbed into the blood. If you do that math then that toothpaste doesn't supply much per use.

The literature I've seen says it's absorbed directly into the oral mucosa.

The underside of your tongue is very vascular (blood vessels) and those are very close to the surface. That's where VB12 is mostly absorbed, however it can also be absorbed throughout the mouth, too. Look in the mirror, at the underside of your tongue, and see for yourself.

Buckle up & get ready.
Everyone & their brother's gonna cash in on the
vegan/plant based idea for a while.
It's the 'buzz' right now.
I can remember in the 80's when 'cholesterol' was in the news.
Chiciqua bananas would have stickers.... 'No Cholesterol!'
And everything was 'anti-oxidant'.
(just just sippin' my tea, watching all this play out..)
Maybe the poster who's started 2 posts in one day about B12
is working for the B12 toothpaste company? 🤔😆🤔
