Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Surgery

Has anyone had this surgery? I was told yesterday that I need to have this, based on a small tear that was found on an MRI. I have 7 kids, a part-time job (which I just got a promotion), and a house to run. All the information I read varies on how long I will be layed up. Can anyone tell me how long it will be before I can drive, return to work (even in a sling), and start using my arm? I really need to think this through, so I can plan the surgery at the optimal time (which there really isn't one, right?).
