Re: Arthritic Fingers — Cyst on Finger Joint

Anyone have experience with treatment for these fluid-filled growths?  I am waiting for an appointment with a hand specialist but would like to hear other people's experience with this surprisingly painful and unattractive condition.

@tansy  Yes! The first thing I did when I retired 7 yrs ago was have one removed from the little finger on my right hand. It was very painful. An orthopedic surgeon removed it (I was surprised that it was such a simple procedure). He warned me that it could come back. Fortunately, it hasn't. Another developed on the middle finger on my left hand and it was pretty big and, again, painful. This happened during lockdown so I wasn't able to have it removed. I had it for a couple of years and then...one day it was just gone. Apparently, it burst on its own. It's completely gone like it was never there. Strange.

I have those fluid filled cysts on the 2nd knuckle of every finger except my thumbs. Some are bigger than others. They only bother me if I smack them on something. Some mornings if my hands swell a bit at night they make it hard to close my hand into a fist.  My son pointed out that they look terrible {I thought I raised him better Smiley Wink } -- so now I'm self conscious of my hands.

@akaburtonfan     yes... my fingers and hands are no longer pretty... I no longer can get my rings on... so they sit in the jewelry box. Guess I should sell or give them away... I have a lot of rings...

Re: Arthritic Fingers — Cyst on Finger Joint

Update:  It became very obvious that it was infected and the throbbing pain had increased so I went to urgent care this morning.  I was prescribed antibiotics and an ointment.  The doctor is arranging for a quicker hand appointment.  Most likely I will need surgery.  😬
