Anyone out there with NO FINGERPRINTS

This is not a trick question or a joke. I taught for 30 years and back in the day in our area no fingerprints were needed for anything. I decided to come out of retirement to substitute (what was I thinking!) Part of the sign up routine was to have fingerprints taken. Well, long story short, I don't have any. Not a problem, sent me back 4 times and finally said I was good to go and the job was mine. Okay, great. But now I want to apply to get the new TSA pre thing so I don't have to go more easily through airport security. They want fingerprints. Now what to do. It might take me the rest of my life to qualify.

I don't even have a traffic ticket. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin} I am not a criminal and have no intent on being anything but a good citizen. Anyone else out there in my situation?

Not sure. I have called and asked but even after calling and researching it seems no one has an answer for me... so far. I thought I would reach out here and see if there is anyone in my position.

LOL - yeah, what were you thinking? I subbed at our local high school for 13 yrs. and could tell you some stories.

As for the fingerprints, you aren't alone. I don't think ordinary, law abiding people have fingerprint records, they're done on crooks. The requirement for you to have them done and go through the Criminal Background Check was to confirm that you aren't a crook - aka, they didn't find any on you. If you had a criminal past, theoretically there would be a fingerprint record on you that the TSA would see. Am I missing something here?

I was a real estate agent for a while. It is a requirement that to get your license, one has to be fingerprinted. Therefore, my fingerprints are a matter of public record.

OP is saying (per my understanding) that she no longer HAS fingerprints, as the skin has worn away, and thus cannot be "fingerprinted" for things like background checks required for TSA.

Are you talking about no finger prints or no finger prints on file?

DH works w/a lot of hand tools. A thumb print is required for him to do certain things at work. There are problems w/his thumb prints. It was worked out but I do not know how. All I know is he has a problem w/thumb prints.

Perhaps a letter from your MD, along with documentation from the school district that ultimately okayed you after the four attempts, would carry some weight. Probably not currently, but in the future they could well use retina scans. You might also try calling an info line at your closest FBI office and explaining your situation, and that you were ultimately okayed by your school district, and see what they suggest. You can't be the only one.

Re: Anyone out there with NO FINGERPRINTS

I don't post on this board, but your title caught my eye!

My dad had no fingerprints, but he was able to work for the government for many years. He would be 95 if he were still alive, so this goes back a long way. If I remember correctly, he was given some kind of an official paper from the government that stated he had no prints--he was able to use that in lieu of prints.

It worked for a Government job, not sure what the situation would be for TSA--no such thing back in his day! Good luck with it.
