@NickNack Thanks for your inquiry, so very sweet. I went last night, had a toe reduction, their words, to put the toe back  together , found out it was broken  totally in 2 spots! was numbed up and given pain relief but yowza it hurt  when they moved the bones together. Have another appt today  at 3, they are checking to see if the bones will stay;in line. If not pins and surgery will be required. Cant wait to see 2016 in the rear view,  young nieces sudden death, husband kidney and colon surgery   my brothers ostemy and reversal , and now this...

I'm so glad you went to the doctor!  It sounds like it was very necessary.  I hope you don't need surgery and will have a fast recovery.

@KarenQVC  Ick is right!  I'll NEVER forget that x-ray!  The bone was just split down the middle and little shards everywhere.

My husband said on the way home:  Well, don't worry!  If it doesn't heal right, they can break it and reset it!  Isn't he a comfort?  LOL!!!

Oh, ouch. I broke the top of my foot in 5 places this last spring and I am having sympathy pains for you. 🙁

So sorry about your toe, but unfortunately Dr's don't do anything for a broken toe (I've had a couple!).

You can get a splint for it at the drugstore just to protect it from further injury or pain from hitting it again, though.

Your right IG....all the doctor did when my aunt broke her toe was to tape her toe to her other toes......and told her to take ibuprofen....

I broke a toe last week and I've done it before.

There is no treatment unless you want to tape it together with the toe next to it to keep it straight.

You have to let it heal naturally and it can take awhile.  Just be careful walking, go slow and keep the lights on.
