Anyone have any SI joint issues?

If so, what did you do? PT? Cold packs? Hot packs?

My back is so tender, I will be making an appt. as soon as I get one for it to be checked and referred to my favorite PT person.

There are several older threads on this condition, which is awful to have.  I think you have started a few of the threads. I continue to see my DO who will adjust me if needed...every few months.  I have learned that I have to wear my SI joint belt when I walk (for exercise) anywhere there are hills, to bed at night, and while doing my core exercises.  If I do something to it to where it is really bothering me, I use ice packs during the day.  At night, to help the muscles relax, I go to sleep on a heating pad.  If I have referred pain in the buttock, hip, or leg, I take muscle relaxers and that pretty well stops the referred pain.

Re: Anyone have any SI joint issues?

You could research Sacroiliitis & red with near infrared  light therapy to see if you want to try that. They used 830nm wavelength light.

I have been using it for years. I bought a new red light therapy pad on Black Friday. I have used it on my left knee for over 2 months now plus I do use it on the right knee just not as much. I could hardly walk due to the pain. My left knee feels so much better.

6 months ago I blacked out. Since that time across my lower back from hip to hip has been hurting. I started using the red light therapy pad on my back daily. It's still bothering me especially after cleaning all day. It's not stiff like it was plus now I can bend over.

I was using a different pad but DH had to take it apart to tape the wiring so I quit using it since it had a short. Too bad I didn't have one to use when I first blacked out. My doctor did nothing.

Hope you find relief.

@Nightowlz  I am not familiar with what the OP has.  However, you mentioned knee pain.  Do you take collagen?  I had knee pain to the point I couldn't bend my knee to kneel down.  The collagen has taken that away.  Granted it wasn't overnight, but 2 to 3 months I noticed a difference.  I also take arnica if I strain any part of my body.  CBD roll on has also been a real blessing to relieve neck, shoulder pain, hip, back, you name it lol.

I hope you and the OP find some relief .  Pain is not fun!

@tends2dogs

I'm not familiar with it either so searched it to see what it was.

I have also been using cbd/thc cream. The brand I was buying is no longer available. Not sure where I will find Transdermal cream since it's all topical. The joint cream worked really good on my knee but it acts like (can't think of the word) but like an NSAID. After a few days I couldn't sleep & it messed up my stomach.

I will use my red light therapy daily. I don't really want to take anymore supplements. I'm still thinking about buying a red light therapy panel. Wondering where I would put it.

They tried to sell the company but guess there were no buyers. They sold it due to the owner getting cancer so they need to focus on his health.

I tried collagen years ago. Everyone says no taste, no smell. It smells & tastes awful. I kept gagging so I can't use it. Thanks for the info.

I've had a problem with mine for many years.

Mine will "lock up" on me sometimes where I won't be able to walk normally and I will either limp or kind of be bent over when trying to walk.

Luckily it doesn't last too long and they'll unlock.

Using a heating pad across my lower back/upper rear area when resting, helps.

For those that don't know, these joints are also known as our "walking joints."

You can also experience the pain literally as a "pain in the rear."

Going to a Chiropractor has greatly helped me as he adjusts me in the hip area.

Re: Anyone have any SI joint issues?

I had SI joint dysfunction with pain down my legs.

TENS unit helped,  but physical therapy solved the problem.

Hope you feel better soon.

Re: Anyone have any SI joint issues?

@gloriajean : I had no idea what you are experiencing and had to research this. I have so many of the problems. I have had lower back pain for years and with episodes of feeling like my hip is locked and can't stand up straight and walk.

I was a premature baby with cerebral palsy and a lot of orthopedic surgery with one leg being shorter and one smaller foot with the necessity of purchasing two different sizes of shoes to make one pair.

I also have spondylotis ( sp) of the spine. Diagnosed in November with ulcerative colitis and currently on a high dose of prednisone. Saturday was removing clothes from the dryer and could not stand straight up and in a lot of pain and calling primary care doctor for refill on my muscle relaxer medicine. Doctor always just stated that I have arthritis with lower back and hip pain. I am 69 with mobility issues and use a stand up walker.

Praying that you will be able to schedule appointments asap for your treatments and pain relief.🙏🙏🙏

Re: Anyone have any SI joint issues?

SouthernBee, I had no idea all what you are going thru too!!  That's a lot!!  Thanks for sharing.  We both need prayers for healing.  I have an appointment now for March 28th with a Nurse Practitioner. My doctor is out for a long time since he had a bike accident and had a brain bleed, no one knows when he will be back. I sure hope he will be back as good as he was. They say I could get in earlier if there's a calculation. In the meantime, I'm icing and using heat on my lower back.
