My trainer had me use one last week. Some of the XFit guys saw me and told me how PAINFUL it is.
I found it to be a great message, and not painful at all!
The front of my legs tend to feel "knotty" - this roller got out all the kinks.
I just bought an extra firm one from amazon as my B Day present to myself.
Does anyone else use one? Or other foam rollers?

I foam roller every day (hard foam). My club even has a PCP-covered in cloth roller that I use from time-to-time (zowie!), but your Rumble Rollers look intimating, as well!!
My trainer taught me 13 points to roll. Takes about 15-20 minutes on a fast day. Even though I roll, I still go to my Rolfer from time to time (in fact, today to work on my shoulder!) to balance me out.

What is it?

A rumble roller is a hard foam roller you use to message out the kinks before or after exercise. My trainer showed me how to use it - some of the XFit guys said I wouldn't like it - the extra firm roller can hurt. But I actually found that this one worked a lot better than the smooth roller - this kind lasts longer too.
In my training session on Thursday, I had to climb 14 flights of stairs with a 20lb. sandbag over my shoulder. I did this twice, with upper body and leg presses in between. Saturday morning I woke up with my calves really hurting. I rolled them on the rumble roller (painful too at first!) for about 5 minutes. When I got up, they felt like new!
The rumble roller, along with my FitBit Zip, are the two best fitness items I have ever purchased!

Terrier: hope you read this again....your posts about your FitBit has intrigued me enough to blow the dust off my walking stuff & hit the road. I have an old pedometer, but I like the way technology can track it. I have a gift card to Best Buy...tempted to get the Zip instead of the Force/Flex. Is there a reason why you didn't choose the Flex/Force? What color of Zip did you get? Even though I'm a "gym-rat" w/ Spin classes & the weight room, I sit waaaay too much throughout the day. Need to move more & this might help. My grand plan is to pull out my backpack & walking pole...and get in 4-5 miles every day...even thinking of walking to the grocery store (5mileRT) whenever I need fresh stuff that I can put in my backpack. Of course, I've waited until the hotter-than-hoot days of Spring/summer here in Dallas to start this =:0, but you've inspired me!!

I got the green FitBit Zip. It's is less conspicuous, IMO, than the bracelet and it gives me enough info. I don't want to track my sleep.
Plus I didn't know if this would be another fad I would quickly discard...but I have worn it every day for 5 weeks now and it is definitely making a difference in my activity level.
I do weights with my trainer 2x a week and once a week on my own...but the needle didn't start moving down until I upped my activity level. I'm planning on doing some walk-a-thons and a 5K with my best friend too.
