Re: Anyone given up already?

nantucket shore ~ 30 pounds is a healthy amount of weight to lose for that timeframe. Just remember if you take off too much weight too quickly it's hard to maintain. As for that extra slice of pizza? No worries ~ a slice of pizza is just that ~ a SLICE. You know something? I don't even own a scale! I'm the type of person that gets discouraged REALLY quick if I jump up a pound or two so I don't even play the numbers game anymore. I figure if I can fit into things I didn't fit in before then I'm on my way! It sounds like you are on your way, too! It's easy for me to sit here and tell you to not beat yourself up. Hey, we all do it! The next time you start to feel that way come back here and read all the positive responses you're getting. Just keep heading in the right direction and you'll be fine!

Re: Anyone given up already?

It was a huge relief for me to realize that I had made my "New Year's Resolution" in April 2013, and by New Year's Day 2014, I was actively living it. Nantucket, you have to change your inner mantra. With all that you've accomplished, I can't even imagine what negative thoughts you'd even be able to think of, much less beat yourself up with them. You are my herof the day! You've actively attacked two life stealing habits and you're making progress with BOTH of them! Cheers to you!!!

No, I'm staying on track to get healthier. I do a little better each year!! I love that you have given up smoking. My mother refused to give it up and lived and died a horrible death from COPD!! Please don't go back to smoking.Smile

Re: Anyone given up already?

I don't challenge anyone's path to success, but if you're interested, please do a search on "fast weight loss vs. slow weight loss". You may find the conclusions presented by research to be surprising. FOR ME, fast weight loss works best, IF my underlying goal is making a change in lifestyle.

Re: Anyone given up already?

Thank you for your words of encouragement.

Don't worry anyone, won't do the smoking again. It's the food that's an issue, somehow somewhere and believe me it was never a problem growing up but it's like I'm eating that there won't be any food tomorrow...sounds strange. I'm telling myself that this is a "silly concept" and maybe just maybe I'm blaming all this tracking I'm doing, counting points and just this last week, not counting, maybe it's a guilt thing I got going on, need to go back counting and tracking points...I'll try that, seeing it on paper is maybe what I need to do again.

Re: Anyone given up already?

Violann...I agree, fast is best for me too....which is why I have never been able to do weight watchers. I get discouraged fast..I need the reinforcement of seeing the scale move. Also, when I am eating clean and best for me, I automatically lose weight fairly rapidly. It is the junk that stops the process, so I know my body is telling me something. I respect anyone who loses weight no matter what strategy they choose (unless blatently unhealthy of course). It is not an easy challenge, but I'm sure it is worth it.

Anyone given up already?

Haven't made any in years so that answers the above question. Do however watch everything all year and every year.
