@Frenchlop wrote:@Puppy Lips On Facebook there is always dogs and cats that are "lost". It makes you wonder how much they care about their pets.
@Frenchlop So true. I have rescued my fair share of stray dogs over the years. But if I see a stray cat, I don't think twice. Not because I don't care for cats (because I don't), but because I figure it could be a feral cat. Even if it wasn't, I am sure it would be hard to catch. Cats are better at taking care of themselves outside, assuming they don't get run over.

Based on your post, I would not be concerned about rabies, and cannot imagine any Dr. would suggest these expensive shots in a situation where there is no wound from contact with this cat.
If this scrape transmitted any bacteria, you should be seeing signs of infection on that finger by now. Cat bites are extremely nasty, and I have never known anyone to get bitten by a cat and not need medical attention with oral or IV antibiotics.
I would take this as my warning, and wear heavy gloves when handling the food bowl.

@Sapphiregal We'd be interested in knowing how you're doing and what the outcome if your situation is.

Let your doctor check it out and decide if you need that shot or not.
